Religia.tv was a religious television channel owned by ITI Group. It was launched on October 15, 2007, at 12:00. In December 2014, it was announced that the broadcasting of Religia.tv would be ended on January 31, 2015. Wiesław Dawidowski, OSA (born 14 March 1964) is a Polish priest of the Roman Catholic Church. A member of the Augustinians, he has worked as a journalist and commentator. From 2007 to 2012 he was the anchorman of Religia.tv. He was the Christian Co-chair of the Polish Council of Christians and Jews from 2009 to 2013. He has been the Provincial Superior of the Augustine Order in Poland since 2012. Biography Dawidowski was born on 14 March 1964 in Gdynia. During the martial law in Poland (1981–1983), Dawidowski was sentenced to six months of incarceration for active involvement in underground anti-Communist youth resistance movement. They had been distributing leaflets with information about the Solidarity radio station. While in prison, he went on hunger strike with a group of political prisoners to protest against the debasing treatment of women inmates. Standard-definition television (SDTV, SD, often shortened to standard definition) is a television system which uses a resolution that is not considered to be either high or enhanced definition. "Standard" refers to it being the prevailing specification for broadcast (and later, cable) television in the mid- to late-20th century, and compatible with legacy analog broadcast systems. The two common SDTV signal types are 576i, with 576 interlaced lines of resolution, derived from the European-developed PAL and SECAM systems, and 480i based on the American NTSC system. Common SDTV refresh rates are 25, 29.97 and 30 frames per second. Both systems use a 4:3 aspect ratio. Standards that support digital SDTV broadcast include DVB, ATSC, and ISDB. ITI Group (International Trading and Investments Holdings SA Luxembourg), known as Grupa ITI in Poland, was a large media conglomerate headquartered in Warsaw, Poland. On 2 July 2015, ITI Group and Canal+ Group complete the sale of their controlling interest in TVN to Scripps Networks Interactive. The ITI Group was co-founded by businessmen Jan Wejchert (1950–2009) and Mariusz Walter in 1984.
