Tura Satana (band)
Tura Satana was an American metal band named after cult actress Tura Satana. The band started in the early 1990s under the name Manhole. Due to legal reasons they changed it after the release of their first album '' All Is Not Well''. While the music was brutal and powerful, the lyrics of the first album were strongly influenced by singer Tairrie B's hardships as a woman having dealt with a dysfunctional family and violence. Their second (and final) offering was the religious influenced ''Relief Through Release''. Throughout their career, the band has shared the stage with rock big names such as Human Waste Project, Snot, Marilyn Manson, Deftones, Type O Negative, Incubus and Limp Bizkit. After they disbanded, Tairrie B went on to form My Ruin and Brian Harrah went on to play in Professional Murder Music, and subsequently The Mercy Clinic, which featured Pat Lachman, former vocalist for Damageplan. Noise Records
Noise Records is a German heavy metal record label founded in 1983 by German music industry personality Karl-Ulrich Walterbach as an expansion of his company Modern Music Records. It was sold to the Sanctuary Records Group in 2001 and ceased any activity in 2007 due to the bankruptcy of Sanctuary. The Noise catalogue was consequently acquired by Universal Music Group later on. ''All Is Not Well'' is the debut studio album by American band Tura Satana. Produced by Ross Robinson, the album was initially released in 1996 when the band was still performing under the name Manhole, which they were later forced to change due to there being a pre-existing band of the same name. Recording Tairrie B shelved her second rap album and left Ruthless Records in order to form a rap rock band where she could "rap over heavy music and address more socially conscious issues". The Los Angeles band named themselves Manhole, unaware that there had already been a Texas punk rock band of the same name who had released a seven inch record before them. The Los Angeles band Manhole caught the attention of Noise Records, who asked the Los Angeles band to be a part of their 1995 compilation ''The Fall and the Rise of Los Angeles'', and the positive response to their appearance on the compilation led to the band signing a recording contract with the label. Theresa Beth (born January 18, 1965), known professionally as Tairrie B, is an American singer and rapper. Career She started her music career as part of the female dance group Bardeux. After the release of their debut single, "Three-Time Lover", in 1987, she left the group. Under the tutelage of Eazy-E, she was later signed to his label Ruthless Records (under a new imprint called Comptown Records) and released her first album, ''Power of a Woman (Tairrie B album), Power of a Woman'', which, unlike usual Ruthless fare, was distributed by MCA Records.
