''Release from Agony'' is the third studio album by German thrash metal band Destruction, released on December 1, 1987 by Steamhammer/SPV in mainly Europe, and in 1988 by Profile/Rock Hotel Records in North America. This was their last studio album to feature bassist and lead vocalist Marcel "Schmier" Schirmer until he rejoined the band in 1999. Destruction (band)
Destruction is a German thrash metal band formed in 1982. They have been credited as one of the "Big Four" of the Teutonic thrash metal, German thrash metal scene, the others being Kreator, Sodom (band), Sodom and Tankard (band), Tankard. In addition to helping pioneer black metal, Destruction was part of the second wave of thrash metal in the mid-to-late 1980s, along with US bands Testament (band), Testament, Sacred Reich, Death Angel and Dark Angel (band), Dark Angel. For most of the 1990s, the band was not signed to a record label and self-produced their albums until they signed a contract with Nuclear Blast in the early 2000s. The band's early releases are considered by some to be classics within the thrash metal genre. Karl-Heinz "Kalle" Trapp is a German former music engineer and producer, and owner of the Karo Studio in Münster. The federal state North Rhine-Westphalia became breeding ground for most German metal bands in the 1980s, with Trapp being referred to as "one of the main power metal producers of the 1980s and '90s". He became especially known as recurring producer of Blind Guardian's records, also credited as backing vocalist on several Blind Guardian albums. According to Andy Ergün of Grinder (band), Grinder, Trapp also recommended that No Remorse Records sign Blind Guardian to release their first record. ''Mad Butcher'' is the second EP by German thrash metal band Destruction (band), Destruction, released on 6 March 1987. It is the band's first studio recording featuring a four-piece lineup instead of a trio. Tommy Sandmann had left the band and two new members had entered the group: a new drummer, Oliver Kaiser, and a new guitarist, Harry Wilkens. "Mad Butcher", the first song of the album, is a re-recording from the ''Sentence of Death'' EP with a faster tempo and double solos from Sifringer and Wilkens. The second song, "The Damned", is a cover song of the Plasmatics. The third song, "Reject Emotions", is a Power Ballad, power ballad, but not really. Finally, "The Last Judgement" is an instrumental song played by Wilkens. Profile Records
Profile Records was one of the earliest hip hop labels. As well as hip-hop they released disco, dance, and electro records. History In 1980, Cory Robbins, who was 23 at the time and had worked briefly for MCA, wanted to start a record label. He invited his songwriter friend Steve Plotnicki to be a partner. They each borrowed $17,000 from their parents, purchased the little used Panorama Records subsidiary from MCA, and Profile Records was born. Their tiny office opened at 250 West 57th street in NYC on May 1, 1981. With the success of “Genius Rap” by Dr. Jeckyll & Mr. Hyde, they escaped financial ruin by a mere $2,000. From there it was Gidea Park's “Seasons of Gold” that brought more commercial and financial success, becoming Profile Records’ first hit to make the Billboard Hot 100.
