Anti-Flag is an American punk rock band from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The band is known for its left-wing political activism. Their current members include Justin Sane (vocals, guitar), Chris Head (guitar), Pat Thetic (drums), and Chris Barker or Chris No. 2 (vocals, bass). The band was originally formed by Justin Sane and Pat Thetic in 1988. Notable past members include the bassists Jamie "Cock" Towns and Andy Flag. Anti-Flag is also known for its advocacy of progressive political movements such as Greenpeace, Amnesty International, and the Occupy movement. Ska Punk
Ska punk (also spelled ska-punk) is a fusion genre that mixes ska music and punk rock music together. (sometimes spelled skacore) is a subgenre of ska punk that mixes ska with hardcore punk. Early ska punk mixed both 2 tone and ska with hardcore punk. Ska punk tends to feature brass instruments, especially horns such as trumpets, trombones and woodwind instruments like saxophones, making the genre distinct from other forms of punk rock. It is closely tied to third wave ska which reached its zenith in the mid-1990s. Before ska punk began, many ska bands and punk rock bands performed on the same bills together and performed to the same audiences. Their System Doesn't Work For You
''Their System Doesn't Work for You'' is a compilation album by punk band Anti-Flag, released in 1998. It was the first album released by the band's label A-F Records. Background It is a reprint of the nine Anti-Flag songs available on their split album North America Sucks, plus 10 unreleased tracks. The first 10 songs were recorded during the Die for the Government sessions in the spring of 1996. Only 1000 copies of the split were released originally, and the band was unable to press anymore. As a result, they decided to rerelease the songs themselves due to the overwhelming requests from fans. As an added bonus for the fans, they decided to include rare songs from the band's first shows at WRUW in Cleveland, OH in 1994 and 1995. These are the last songs to feature Andy Flag on vocals and bass, as he left after the release of the split. DIY Ethic
"Do it yourself" ("DIY") is the method of building, modifying, or repairing things by oneself without the direct aid of professionals or certified experts. Academic research has described DIY as behaviors where "individuals use raw and semi-raw materials and parts to produce, transform, or reconstruct material possessions, including those drawn from the natural environment (e.g., landscaping)". DIY behavior can be triggered by various motivations previously categorized as marketplace motivations (economic benefits, lack of product availability, lack of product quality, need for customization), and identity enhancement (craftsmanship, empowerment, community seeking, uniqueness). Against All Authority (often abbreviated -AAA-) is an American Punk rock, punk band, formed in Florida in 1992. Playing in a ska punk style, their business practice follows a stringent DIY ethic. History Against All Authority was founded in Cutler Ridge, Florida in 1992 in music, 1992, driven by willingness to promote their message—"questioning our economic differences and promoting our human similarities". A split album (or split) is a music album that includes tracks by two or more separate artists. There are also singles and EPs of the same variety, which are often called "split singles" and "split EPs" respectively. Split albums differ from "various artists" compilation albums in that they generally include several tracks of each artist, or few artists with one or two tracks each, instead of multiple artists with only one or two tracks each.
