Reinhold Poss
Reinhold Poss (11 September 1897 – 26 August 1933) was a German flying ace and racing Aviator, pilot. Poss enlisted with the Imperial German Navy during World War I and scored eleven kills as a naval pilot. In May 1918 he took command of the ''Seefrontstaffel'' and in September 1918 of the ''IV. Marinefeldjasta'', which he led until 15 October, when he was shot down and captured. He spent the final month of the war in a POW camp. Following the war, Poss achieved further fame as a pilot, completing, with Hermann Köhl, the first night-time flight between Warnemünde and Stockholm, Sweden. Poss competed in three Fédération Aéronautique Internationale air races, Challenge 1929 (finishing 15/16th overall), Challenge 1930 (2nd overall), and Challenge 1932 (tying Fritz Morzik for 2/3rd). Reinhold is a German language, German male given name. This German name is originally from "Reinold", composed of two elements. The first is from ''ragin'', meaning "the (Germanic) Gods" and ''wald'' meaning "powerful". This name was popularised by the ancient German hero figure known as Renaud de Montauban, Reinhold von Montalban (The Four Sons of Aymon), Reinhold von Meilan (Legends about Theodoric the Great, The Dietrich Saga), and ultimately, as Reinold, Saint Reinhold von Köln. Challenge 1932
The Challenge 1932 was the third FAI International Tourist Plane Competition (french: Challenge International de Tourisme), that took place between 12 and August 28, 1932 in Berlin, Germany. The four Challenges, from 1929 to 1934, were major aviation events in pre-war Europe. Overview Germany organized the contest, because German pilot Fritz Morzik won the previous Challenge in 1930. The number of aircraft that took part in the 1932 Challenge was smaller - 43 compared to 60, because the contest was getting much more difficult with time, demanding high pilotage skills and more advanced aircraft. This time, most countries developed new aircraft specifically for the Challenge. There were 67 entries reported, but as much as 24 aircraft did not show up, partly because of unfinished development or crashes during tests. __NOTOC__ Friedrich-Wilhelm Morzik (10 December 1891 – 17 June 1985) was a general in the Luftwaffe of Nazi Germany during World War II. He was a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. Morzik was a winner in the first International Tourist Plane Contest ''Challenge'' and the second ''Challenge'' in 1930. In 1935 he started service in the Air Force (Luftwaffe), as a commandant of pilots' school. In World War II he became a head of Luftwaffe Transport Command, in a rank of '' Generalmajor''.
