Reinhard Rack
Reinhard Rack (born 7 August 1945 in Leoben, Styria) is an Austrian politician and a former Member of the European Parliament (1995–2009). He is a member of the Austrian People's Party, which is part of the European People's Party, and was sitting on the European Parliament's Committee on Transport and Tourism. He was also a substitute for the Committee on Constitutional Affairs, a member of the delegation for relations with Australia and New Zealand, and a substitute for the delegation for relations with Japan. A Member of the European Parliament (MEP) is a person who has been elected to serve as a popular representative in the European Parliament. When the European Parliament (then known as the Common Assembly of the ECSC) first met in 1952, its members were directly appointed by the governments of member states from among those already sitting in their own national parliaments. Declarations of financial interests are a means of making conflict of interests of people in public office known and to reduce them by making them public. European Parliament Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) are required to declare their financial interests or assets that could create a situation of conflict in the performance of their duties. As in a majority of the Member States, Members of the European Parliament have an obligation to declare their financial interests at the moment of taking office as well as orally when a Member has an interest in one of the issues being debated at a sitting.
