Reinga Bloxham
Reinga Bloxham, also known as Reinga Te Huia, is a former New Zealand netball player and current coach. During the Coca-Cola Cup/National Bank Cup era, she played for Southern Sting. Since 2016, she has served as head coach of Southern Steel in the ANZ Premiership. In 2017 and 2018, Bloxham guided Steel to two successive ANZ Premiership titles. Early life and family Bloxham is a Māori with Ngāti Kahungunu affiliations. She was born and raised in Southland. Differing sources give her place of birth as either Gore or Wyndham. She is a niece of Georgie Salter, the former New Zealand netball international. Bloxham is the mother of two children, a son, Te Kaanu (born, c. 2000) and a daughter, Maraea (born, c. 2005). Georgie Salter
Georgina Hera Salter (née Hapuku; 2 December 1950 – 28 November 2018) was a New Zealand netball coach and international netball player. Biography Salter was a member of the national netball team, the Silver Ferns, from 1974 to 1975. She coached the Otago Rebels to win the inaugural Coca-Cola Cup in 1998, and guided Otago to the national provincial title in the same year. In the 2019 New Year Honours, Salter was appointed a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to netball. The Queen's approval of the award took effect on 27 November 2018, prior to the date of decease. Natalie Avellino
Natalie Ann Allison Avellino (born 15 December 1970) is a retired Australian netballer, and former assistant coach of the Southern Steel netball team in the ANZ Championship. She made the Australia national netball team from 1994–1995 and again from 2004-2006 which included key competitions like one world championships and one Commonwealth Games. She was an Australian Institute of Sport scholarship holder. Domestically, Avellino played for three Australian Commonwealth Bank Trophy teams, Adelaide Ravens, Sydney Sandpipers and the Sydney Swifts. In 2004 she fell out with Netball Australia and was drafted to New Zealand playing for Southern Sting in the National Bank Cup, a team which won seven out of ten of the National Bank Cup titles (1999–2004, 2007) as a backup shooter for Donna Wilkins and Tania Dalton who later got injured. Netball New Zealand Super Club
The Netball New Zealand Super Club was a netball tournament organised by Netball New Zealand. It featured teams from the ANZ Premiership as well as invited overseas teams, including teams from Australia, Great Britain, South Africa and Singapore. Southern Steel won the inaugural 2017 tournament, while Central Pulse and Collingwood Magpies won the subsequent 2018 and 2019 tournaments respectively. 2018 ANZ Premiership Season
The 2018 ANZ Premiership season was the second season of Netball New Zealand's ANZ Premiership. With a team coached by Reinga Bloxham, captained by Wendy Frew and featuring Gina Crampton, Shannon Francois, Te Paea Selby-Rickit and Te Huinga Reo Selby-Rickit, Southern Steel retained the title, winning their second consecutive premiership. Central Pulse finished the regular season as minor premiers. However, in the grand final Steel defeated Pulse 54–53. 2017 Netball New Zealand Super Club
The 2017 Netball New Zealand Super Club was the inaugural Netball New Zealand Super Club tournament. With a team coached by Reinga Bloxham, captained by Wendy Frew and featuring Gina Crampton, Jhaniele Fowler-Reid, Shannon Francois, and Jane Watson, Southern Steel finished the tournament as inaugural winners. Steel went through the tournament unbeaten, defeating Northern Mystics 79–58 in the final. All the matches were hosted at the Trafalgar Centre in Nelson between 2 July and 7 July 2007. Noeline Taurua
Dame Noeline Taurua (born 26 March 1968) is a New Zealand international netball coach and former representative player. She is currently head coach of the New Zealand national netball team, the Silver Ferns. Early life Taurua was born in Papakura to Kingi and Polly Taurua, her fathers tribe was Ngāpuhi and Ngāti Whātua on her mothers side. Taurua is the youngest of five children. Taurua expressed an interest in Athletics in her schooling years. Playing career Taurua was a member of the Silver Ferns from 1993–99. During that time she won a silver medal at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur and a bronze medal at the 1995 Netball World Championships in Birmingham.
