Club career Born in Itabirito, Brazil, Reinaldo plays as a striker and started his professional football career at Brazilian club América Mineiro in 2004, where he became a key player and the club's leading goal scorer. Later that season he trialed with Dutch club Feyenoord for two months until he was signed by Corinthians Alagoano. Reinaldo Arenas (July 16, 1943 – December 7, 1990) was a Cuban poet, novelist, and playwright known as a vocal critic of Fidel Castro, the Cuban Revolution, and the Cuban government. His memoir of the Cuban dissident movement and of being a political prisoner, ''Before Night Falls'', was dictated after his escape to the United States during the 1980 Mariel boatlift and published posthumously, after Arenas, who was dying of AIDS, committed suicide with an overdose of pills. Reinaldo Manoel da Silva (born 28 September 1989), simply known as Reinaldo, is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays as a left-back for Grêmio. Club career Born in Porto Calvo, Alagoas, Reinaldo played for São Paulo state lowly sides, notably at Paulista FC. On 16 May 2012 he joined Série A side Sport Recife until the end of the season, on loan from Penapolense. Reinaldo Carlos Merlo (born 20 May 1950) is an Argentine football coach and former player, who played as a midfielder. Playing career Known as ''Mostaza'' (mustard) because of his off-blond hair, Merlo played his entire career for Club Atlético River Plate as a defensive midfielder. He was part of the midfield that conquered a string of championships under coach Ángel Labruna between 1975 and 1981, the others being Juan José López and Norberto Alonso. Merlo was, together with goalkeeper Ubaldo Fillol and defender Daniel Passarella, the backbone of that team. River, nonetheless, purchased several players to fill in Merlo's position, because he was considered a great defender, but a liability once the team got the ball.
