Reijo Tossavainen
Reijo Tossavainen (born 13 November 1948 in Kiuruvesi, Northern Savonia) is a Finland, Finnish politician and a member of the True Finns. He represented the Kymi (electoral district), constituency of Kymi in the Parliament of Finland for the 2011 Finnish parliamentary election, 2011 parliamentary election. In 2015 Tossavainen did not seek re-election. Work and life Reijo Tossavainen was a managing director and owner of the ''Valkealan Sanomat'' newspaper, which he sold. He did not stop writing since then. He is keeping a weblog in ''Uusi Suomi'' web publication. He has been a chairman of the entrepreneurial society and home region society. He lives in two places: Kouvola and Savitaipale. Political career In the 2011 parliamentary election, the list of the True Finns polled 23.27% (39.357 votes) and won three of the twelve seats in the electoral district of Kymi. 2011 Finnish Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Finland on 17 April 2011 after the termination of the previous parliamentary term. Advance voting, which included voting by Finnish expatriates, was held between 6 and 12 April with a turnout of 31.2%. The importance of the election was magnified due to Finland's capacity to influence the European Union's decision in regard to affecting a bailout for Portugal via the European Financial Stability Facility, as part of financial support systems for debt-laden European countries, and the fall of the Portuguese government. Small differences in the opinion polls for the traditional three big parties (the National Coalition Party, the Centre Party and the Social Democratic Party) and the surprising rise in support for the True Finns also electrified the atmosphere ahead of the election. ''Uusi Suomi'' (Finnish for ''The New Finland'') was a Finnish daily newspaper that was published from 1919 to 1991. The headquarters was in Helsinki, Finland. History and profile ''Uusi Suomi'' was established in 1919 as a continuation of two earlier newspapers, ''Suometar'' (1847–1866) and ''Uusi Suometar'' (1869–1919). ''Suometar'' had been primarily concerned with pursuing issues relating to the Finnish population; its successor ''Uusi Suometar'' had represented closely related Fennoman views. Kymi (electoral District)
Kymi is an electoral district represented in the Finnish ''Eduskunta'' (parliament). It covers the administrative regions of South Karelia and Kymenlaakso in south-eastern Finland, with a combined population of about 322,000 (). Kymi currently elects 12 members of the ''Eduskunta''. True Finns
The Finns Party, formerly known as the True Finns ( fi, Perussuomalaiset, PS, sv, Sannfinländarna, Sannf.), is a right-wing populist political party in Finland. It was founded in 1995 following the dissolution of the Finnish Rural Party. The party achieved its electoral breakthrough in the 2011 Finnish parliamentary election, when it won 19.1% of votes, becoming the third largest party in the Finnish Parliament. In the 2015 election the party got 17.7% of the votes, making it the parliament's second-largest political party. The party was in opposition for the first 20 years of its existence.
