Reigen (opera)
''Reigen'' (German 'Round Dance') is a German-language opera in ten scenes by Philippe Boesmans to a libretto by Luc Bondy after Arthur Schnitzler's play ''La Ronde (play), La Ronde'' (1897). Philippe Boesmans
Philippe Boesmans (17 May 1936 – 10 April 2022) was a Belgian pianist, composer and academic teacher. He studied to be a pianist at the Royal Conservatory of Liège, and was self-taught as a composer, influenced by the Liège Group of Henri Pousseur, André Souris, and Célestin Deliège, and by attending the Darmstädter Ferienkurse. He worked for the Radio Télévision Belge de la Communauté Française (RTBF) from 1961, as a producer from 1971. Boesman became primarily recognised for his operas, with works written for the Royal Opera House La Monnaie in Brussels as composer in residence since 1985. Four operas were written in collaboration with Luc Bondy who adapted plays for him, Schnitzler's ''La Ronde'', Shakespeare's ''The Winter's Tale'', Strindberg's ''Miss Julie'' and ''Iwona, księżniczka Burgunda'' by Witold Gombrowicz, and who directed the world premieres of the operas. Randi Stene
Randi Stene (born 12 April 1963) is a Norwegian opera singer and contralto from Trondheim. After her studies in Trondheim, Oslo and København, her international breakthrough came as Octavian in ''Der Rosenkavalier'' (''The Knight of the Rose'') at the Opéra Bastille in Paris in 1993. She had the same success with this role in London. Her interpretation of Silla in Hans Pfitzner's opera Palestrina at Covent Garden rocketed her to the Metropolitan Opera in New York City. As a soloist, Randi Stene has performed at BBC Proms with Esa-Pekka Salonen and at the Salzburg Festival with Philippe Herreweghe. She is also a frequent guest soloist with the symphony orchestras in the Nordic capitals. Sylvain Cambreling
Sylvain Cambreling (born 2 July 1948 in Amiens, France) is a French conductor. Biography Trained as a trombone player, Cambreling studied at the Paris Conservatoire. He joined l' Orchestre Symphonique de Lyon (OSL) as a trombonist in 1971. In 1974, he took second prize in the International Besançon Competition for Young Conductors. His conducting debut was with the OSL in 1975, leading Robert Schumann's ''Scenes from Goethe's Faust''. At the invitation of Pierre Boulez, he began to guest-conduct the Ensemble Intercontemporain regularly from 1976. Cambreling was the music director of the Théâtre de la Monnaie, Brussels from 1981 to 1991, during Gerard Mortier's tenure. Dale Duesing
Dale Duesing (born September 26, 1947) is an American baritone. As an opera singer, he has had an international career spanning five decades. Duesing grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He studied piano throughout childhood, and enrolled at Lawrence University, majoring in piano performance. He switched to vocal performance while in college, and won the Metropolitan Opera Competition in his final year of study. After traveling to Europe with a Fulbright Scholarship, Duesing made a name for himself there. Ronald Hamilton is an American tenor who was born in Hamilton, Ohio, to a musical family. He began studying medicine, but decided on a singing career. In 1972 he was engaged by the opera in Ulm. In 1975 he signed a contract with Dortmund and, in 1977, with the Deutsche Oper am Rhein. In the 1985-86 season he performed the role of Alwa in ''Lulu''. He made his Metropolitan Opera debut in this role in 1988, opposite Catherine Malfitano and Tatiana Troyanos, in John Dexter's production conducted by James Levine. Luc Bondy
Luc Bondy (17 July 1948 – 28 November 2015) was a Swiss theatre and film director. Life and career upright=1.3, '' Charlotte Salomon'' at the Salzburg Festival 2014 Trained in Paris with the theatre teacher Jacques Lecoq, he received a job in 1969 as an assistant at the Hamburg Thalia Theatre. He also worked as a producer of both plays and operas at the Salzburg Festival, and in 1985 as a director at the Vienna Festival. He was the director of the most recent version of ''Tosca'', by Puccini, at the Metropolitan Opera in New York.
