Al Rihan
Al Rehan or ( ar, الريحان) is a small village located in the southern part of Lebanon, on Al Rehan mountain in Jezzine District. The village is surrounded by mountain peaks, pine and oak forests. Its altitude ranges from 740 to 1605 m and is 83 km from the Capital (political), capital Beirut. Etymology Al Rehan (pronounced /Al re-han) is the village's name in Arabic and refers to its namesake, Mount Rehan. Both village and mount are named after the Basil (Rehan in Arabic) plant that grows abundantly in the area. History In the 1596 daftar, tax records, it was named as a village, Wad Rihan'', in the Ottoman empire, Ottoman ''nahiya'' (subdistrict) of Sagif under the ''Liwa (Arabic), liwa''' (district) of Safad, with a population of 47 households, all Muslim. Umm ar-Rehan ( ar, أم الريحان, meaning "Mother of Basil"; also transliterated Umm Rihan or Um al-Rehan) is a Palestinian people, Palestinian village of 370 inhabitants located high on the northwestern hills of the Jenin Governorate, from Jenin. Reihan ( he, רֵיחָן) is an Israeli settlement organized as a moshav ovdim in the northwest edge of the West Bank. Located close to the Green Line, it falls under the jurisdiction of Shomron Regional Council. In it had a population of .
