Regulator Watts
Regulator Watts was a rock band from Washington, D.C. from 1996 to 1998. When the band broke up, Dunham formed a new band, Abilene, and Sless-Kitain joined Bluetip. Style The band's music resembles that of illustrious predecessor Hoover, with more of an emphasis on taut, mechanical basslines and feedback-laden, spare guitar lines, as opposed to Hoover's fluid, jazzy basslines and contrasting guitar styles. Bluetip
Bluetip was an American rock band from Washington, D.C., forming in March 1995 by ex-members of Swiz. They released four albums, an EP, and a number of singles before splitting up in January 2002. Originally, the band was to be named The Ohio Blue Tip, however the name was shortened to Bluetip early on. In 2001, when Farrell moved to New York, the band eventually folded. Farrell and Joe Gorelick from Bluetip continued making music in a very similar vein under the band name Retisonic, starting in 2002, with Jim Kimball on bass. The band Red Hare was formed in 2013 by three former members of Bluetip (Farrell, Gorelick, and Dave Stern) and three former members of both Swiz and Sweetbelly Freakdown (Farrell, Stern, and Shawn Brown. Hoover (band)
Hoover was an American post-hardcore band from Washington, D.C. Formed in 1992, Hoover went on to produce some of the more intense music to appear on the Dischord Records label in the 1990s. Compared to Fugazi, Hoover was more experimental and permissive, incorporating elements of jazz and Dub music, dub, and not limiting themselves to an aggressive stance. Unusually, three of the four members shared vocal duties equally. Vulture.com listed their song "Electrolux" as one of the greatest emo songs of the early 1990s. Hoover disbanded in 1994, but have reformed twice: once in 1997 to record a mini-album of 'odds and ends', and again in 2004 for a series of dates in the US and Europe.
