''Regretfully Yours'' is the major-label debut album by Superdrag, released on Elektra Records in 1996. The first single, " Sucked Out", expressed disdain for the music industry. It was an MTV Buzz Bin hit. "Sucked Out" reached #17 on Billboard's Modern Rock chart. A vinyl version—which didn't appear at the time of the original release despite the album's retro aesthetic—was released in 2012 on SideOneDummy Records. The album peaked at No. 158 on the ''Billboard'' 200. Critical reception ''The Encyclopedia of Popular Music'' wrote that the album "suffered from a cleaner production than their independent debut, losing some of the band's rough power pop charm in the process." Superdrag Albums
Superdrag is an American alternative rock band from Knoxville, Tennessee, United States. They are best known for their 1996 single, " Sucked Out", off their album ''Regretfully Yours'', for which a video was played on MTV. The original lineup reunited in 2007, releasing a full-length album in 2009: ''Industry Giants''. The same lineup reunited again in 2021. Career Early years (1992–1995) Superdrag formed in the early 1990s when Knoxville guitar player Brandon Fisher began dating the cousin of John Davis. Davis, a bit younger than Fisher, began playing the drums in Brandon's band, The Used (posthumously renamed The Used to Be for a 2003 re-release, and not to be confused with the Utah-based emo band), along with Tom Pappas, also Davis's senior by a couple of years. Mellotron
The Mellotron is an electro-mechanical musical instrument developed in Birmingham, England, in 1963. It is played by pressing its keys, each of which pushes a length of magnetic tape against a capstan, which pulls it across a playback head. As the key is released, the tape is retracted by a spring to its initial position. Different portions of the tape can be played to access different sounds. The Mellotron evolved from the similar Chamberlin, but could be mass-produced more efficiently. The first models were designed for the home and contained a variety of sounds, including automatic accompaniments. Bandleader Eric Robinson and television personality David Nixon helped promote the first instruments, and celebrities such as Princess Margaret were early adopters. Buzz Bin
MTV's Buzz Bin was a select group of music videos by up and coming artists and bands that the network deemed "buzz worthy", " cutting edge", or "the next big thing". As such, the selected videos received heavy rotation on the channel, and were also featured in special promotional commercials that highlighted the latest Buzz Bin selections, which were sometimes known as Buzz Clips. The Buzz Bin began in 1987, and featured artists and bands from all genres of music (not just alternative rock or modern rock acts, although those were the majority).
