Registered Nurse (film)
''Registered Nurse'' is a 1934 American Pre-Code film produced by First National Pictures and released through its parent company Warner Bros. The film was directed by Robert Florey and stars Bebe Daniels in her final role for Warner Bros. Plot Sylvia Benson (Bebe Daniels) is married to belligerent drunk (Gordon Westcott) but after a violent quarrel which results in a car crash, she decides to go back to nursing. Three years later Benson is the best nurse at the hospital, all the doctors think so including dedicated surgeon Dr. Hedwig (John Halliday) and chronic skirt chaser Dr. Connolly (Lyle Talbot). Sylvia has a secret, after the car crash her husband went insane and is now in an asylum. That's why she is keeping the doctors at arm's length whenever they mention marriage. Robert Florey
Robert Florey (14 September 1900 – 16 May 1979) was a French-American director, screenwriter, film journalist and actor. Born as Robert Fuchs in Paris, he became an orphan at an early age and was then raised in Switzerland. In 1920 he worked at first as a film journalist, then as an assistant and extra in featurettes from Louis Feuillade. Florey moved to the United States in 1921. As a director, Florey's most productive decades were the 1930s and 1940s, working on relatively low-budget fillers for Paramount Pictures, Paramount and Warner Brothers. His reputation is balanced between his avant-garde expressionist style, most evident in his early career, and his work as a fast, reliable studio-system director called on to finish troubled projects, such as 1939's ''Hotel Imperial (1939 film), Hotel Imperial''. Ruth Chatterton
Ruth Chatterton (December 24, 1892 РNovember 24, 1961) was an American stage, film, and television actress, aviator and novelist. She was at her most popular in the early to mid-1930s, and in the same era gained prominence as an aviator, one of the few female pilots in the United States at the time. In the late 1930s, Chatterton retired from film acting but continued her career on the stage. She had several TV roles beginning in the late 1940s and became a successful novelist in the 1950s. Early life Chatterton was born in New York City on December 24, 1892 to Walter, an architect, and Lillian (n̩e Reed) Chatterton. She was of English and French extraction. Edward Gargan
Edward Gargan (July 17, 1902 – February 19, 1964) was an American film and television actor. Career He was born of Irish parents in Brooklyn, New York. He was the elder brother of actor William Gargan. As soon as he had left college, he went onto the stage and had extensive acting experience gained in plays like ''My Maryland'', ''Rose Marie'', and ''Good News'' before going into films. His Broadway credits include ''Face the Music'' (1931), ''Polly of Hollywood'' (1926) and ''Black Boy'' (1926). In 1930, Gargan played Patrolman Mulligan in a production of ''Strictly Dishonorable''. Many of his appearances were uncredited. Personal life and death Gargan was married to the former Catherine Conlan. He died February 19, 1964, at Columbus Hospital in New York City. He was 62.
