Regionalliga Südwest (1963–1974)
The Regionalliga Südwest was the second-highest level of the German football league system in the southwest of West Germany from 1963 until the formation of the 2. Bundesliga in 1974. It covered the states of Saarland and Rheinland-Pfalz. Regionalliga 1963-1974
A (, plural ) is a regional league in numerous sports governing bodies in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, usually located in the upper or middle tiers of the sports leagues. The term is often associated with the German football league system where it is the fourth tier or one of the three divisions of Regionalliga in Austria, which represent the third tier in that country. Until 1974, ''Regionalliga'' was the second tier in Germany. In 1994, it was reintroduced as the third tier. Upon the creation of the new Germany-wide in 2008, it became the fourth tier. Eintracht Bad Kreuznach is a German association football club from city of Bad Kreuznach, Rhineland-Palatinate. They are among the most successful amateur football teams in southwestern Germany but, after a couple of consecutive relegations, now find themselves in the tier eight Bezirksliga Nahe. ASV Landau
ASV Landau is a German association football club from the town of Landau, Rhineland-Palatinate. The club's greatest success has been promotion to the tier one Oberliga Südwest in 1949 and 1953, spending three seasons at this level. After the introduction of the Bundesliga in 1963 ''ASV'' became part of the tier two Regionalliga Südwest where it played in 1963–64 and, again, from 1969 to 1974. Eisbachtaler Sportfreunde is a German association football club based in Nentershausen, Rhineland-Palatinate. __TOC__ History Eisbachtaler Sportfreunde were formed in 1966 as a merger of local teams SC Großholbach, TuS Girod-Kleinholbach, VfR Nomborn, TuS Heilberscheid and TuS Nentershausen. VfB Theley is a German association football club from the Theley suburb of the town of Tholey, Saarland. The club's greatest success has been promotion to the second tier 2. Oberliga Südwest in 1958 where it played for five seasons. After the introduction of the Bundesliga in 1963 Theley spent another three seasons at the second tier, now the Regionalliga Südwest before dropping out of higher-level football altogether in 1974. SV Röchling Völklingen is a German association football club that plays in Völklingen, part of the greater Saarbrücken, Saarland. FK Pirmasens is a German association football club in Pirmasens, Rhineland-Palatinate.
