Reginald Soar
Captain Reginald Rhys Soar was a British flying ace during World War I. He was credited with 12 official aerial victories won while serving in the Dardanelles and along the English Channel. World War I Soar joined the Royal Naval Air Service in August 1915. He began his naval air service with No. 3 Wing RNAS in the Dardanelles. He then transferred to 5 Naval Wing at Dunkirk. In October 1916, he transferred again, to 8 Naval Squadron. Soar scored his first aerial victories on 20 December 1916, when he used Sopwith Pup serial number N5181 to drive two German Halberstadt fighter planes down out of control. He would not score again until after being re-equipped with a Sopwith Triplane. On 23 May 1917, he drove a German reconnaissance plane down out of control to begin a string of ten victories. A WikiProject, or Wikiproject, is a Wikimedia movement affinity group for contributors with shared goals. Deutsche Flugzeug-Werke, usually known as DFW, was a German aircraft manufacturer of the early twentieth century. It was established by Bernhard Meyer and Erich Thiele at Lindenthal in 1910, and initially produced Farman designs under licence, later moving on to the Etrich Taube and eventually to its own designs. One of these, the DFW C.V reconnaissance aircraft, was produced to the extent of several thousand machines, including licence production by other firms. Plans to develop civil aircraft after the war proved fruitless, and the company was bought by ATG shortly thereafter. Royal Air Force Carew Cheriton or more simply RAF Carew Cheriton is a former Royal Air Force station of Coastal and Training Command near Carew, Pembrokeshire. It was sited north west of Tenby. It was built on the site of RNAS Pembroke (aka RNAS Milton) from the First World War, which had been decommissioned and sold off in the inter war years.
