Regina Stanback Stroud
Regina Stanback Stroud (born 1957) is an American educator who serves as the Chancellor of the Peralta Community College District based in Oakland California. Career She previously served as President of Skyline College (2011–2019), Vice President of Skyline College (2001–2011), Dean of Workforce and Economic Development of Mission College in Santa Clara (1997–2001). In addition to her academic administrative roles, she has been a professor of nursing at Santa Ana College, a visiting professor of educational leadership at Mills College, and as an adjunct professor of educational leadership at San Francisco State University. Peralta Community College District
The Peralta Community College District is the community college district serving northern Alameda County, California. The district operates four community colleges: Berkeley City College, Laney College and Merritt College in Oakland, and College of Alameda. From 1968 to 1988, non-contiguous Plumas County was part of the district, and Feather River College was operated by the district. Plumas County and Feather River College are now part of the Feather River Community College District. Although the district is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges, it was placed on probation in early 2020 for severe financial problems. Critical Race Theory
Critical race theory (CRT) is a cross-disciplinary examination, by social and civil-rights scholars and activists, of how laws, social and political movements, and media shape, and are shaped by, social conceptions of race and ethnicity. Goals include challenging all mainstream and "alternative" views of racism and racial justice, including conservative, liberal, and progressive. The word ''critical'' in the name is an academic reference to critical thinking, critical theory, and scholarly criticism, rather than criticizing or blaming people. CRT is also used in sociology to explain social, political, and legal structures and power distribution as through a "lens" focusing on the concept of race, and experiences of racism.
