Regev Fanan ( he, רגב פנאן; born 23 November 1981) is a former Israeli professional basketball player who is currently the athletic trainer for Maccabi Tel Aviv. Hapoel ( he, הפועל, lit. ''the worker'') is an Israeli Jewish sports association established in 1926 by the Histadrut Labor Federation. History During the British Mandate of Palestine period Hapoel had a bitter rivalry with Maccabi and organized its own competitions, with the exception of football, the only sport in which all the organizations played each other. At the time, Hapoel took no part in the ''Eretz Israel Olympic Committee'', which was controlled by Maccabi, and instead sought for international ties with similar workers sports organizations of socialist parties. Israeli Basketball State Cup
The Israeli Basketball State Cup ( he, גביע המדינה בכדורסל) is the second most important professional basketball competition in Israel, after the Israeli Basketball Super League, Israeli Super League. It is the national federation cup of Israel. The tournament began in the 1955–56 season, and is run by the Israel Basketball Association. In the 21–22 season, the tournament format was changed so that only the first 8 teams at the end of the first rotation of the Israeli Basketball Premier League will compete. The quarter-final matches will be drawn between the teams in places 1-4 against 5-8 for a one-game elimination match. Moni Fanan
Shimon (Moni) Fanan (11 May 1946 – 19 October 2009) was the team manager of the Israeli basketball team Maccabi Tel Aviv in 1992–2008. Managerial career Fanan began his career with Maccabi in the club's football team as chairman of the youth department. Being a devoted fan of the basketball team, he sat close to the players benches during games. He became a member of the group's management in 1986, and with the retirement of the team manager Shmuel Maharovsky in 1992, Fanan was appointed to replace him. In December 2006 Fanan announced his retirement but shortly after renounced it, ultimately retiring in 2008. Death Fanan committed suicide on 19 October 2009, reportedly owing $20m.
