Reg Whitehead (actor)
Joseph Reginald Whitehead (25 April 1899 – 25 December 1963) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Richmond and Hawthorn in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Family The eldest child of Joseph Whitehead (1868-1928), and Margaret Amanda Whitehead (1867-1936), née Smith, Joseph Reginald Whitehead was born in Richmond on 25 April 1899. He married Beryl Mary Maunsell (1911-1980) on 28 December 1940. Cricket A fast bowler, he played with the Richmond Cricket Club's First XI, in the District Cricket competition, over two seasons: 1920/1021 and 1921/1922.Hogan (1996), p.245. Richmond is an inner-city suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Yarra local government area. Victorian Amateur Football Association
The Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA) is the largest senior community Australian rules football competition in Victoria. It consists of seven senior men's and women's divisions ranging from Premier to Division 4. In addition there are U19's sections and five Thirds sections, primarily made up of either clubs only able to field one team, or clubs from higher sections that can field a third team after their seniors and reserves. The league operates a double promotion and relegation system between sections with various rules dictating which section clubs can play in. The league's administration base is at Elsternwick Park, a former Victorian Football Association stadium in suburban Elsternwick, Victoria, that was home to the now defunct Brighton Football Club and is now the home base for Old Melburnians Football Club and Elsternwick Football Club. Camberwell Football Club
Camberwell Football Club was an Australian rules football club which formed around the mid-1880s, with a published match in 1886 and competed in the Victorian Football Association (VFA) between 1926 and 1990. Nicknamed the Cobras, Camberwell wore blue, white and red club colours. They were based in the Melbourne suburb of Camberwell. History Camberwell FC competed in the Victorian Junior Football Association in 1888, finishing sixth on the ladder, 8th in 1890 and 8th in 1891. At the 1895 VJFA – AGM, the competition was reduced from 20 teams to 12 teams and Camberwell was one of the clubs that was not admitted and it appears that Camberwell FC went into recess for a number of years, before joining the Eastern Suburbs Football Association in 1899.
