Dai Rees
David James Rees, (31 March 1913 – 15 November 1983) was one of the Britain's leading golfers either side of the Second World War. The winner of many prestigious tournaments in Britain, Europe and farther afield, Rees is best remembered as the captain of the Great Britain Ryder Cup team which defeated the United States at Lindrick Golf Club in Yorkshire, England, in 1957. It was the only defeat which the United States suffered in the competition between 1933 and 1985. Personal life Rees was born in Fontegary, near Barry in the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales. Gavin Rees
Gavin Rees (born 10 May 1980) is a retired Welsh former professional boxing world champion who competed from 1998 to 2014. He held the WBA super lightweight title from 2007 to 2008 and challenged once for the WBC lightweight title in 2013. At regional level, he held the British lightweight title twice between 2010 and 2012, and the EBU European lightweight title from 2011 to 2012. Gareth Lloyd Rees (born 30 June 1967) is a Canadian former international rugby union footballer who played at fly-half and full back positions. Rees played for several British club sides, including Wasps and Harlequins. He won 55 caps for Canada, captaining them on 23 occasions and scoring 487 test points. In October 2011, Rees received arguably his greatest honour with induction to the IRB Hall of Fame. He and fellow 2011 inductee Brian Lima of Samoa are the first members of the IRB Hall from nations outside of the traditional top tier of the sport. Gareth Rees (cricketer)
Gareth Peter Rees (born 8 April 1985) is a Welsh cricketer. He is a left-handed batsman and a left-arm medium-pace bowler who plays for Glamorgan. Rees was born in Swansea. He represented Wales U17s at rugby and was a prominent member of the successful Felinfoel Youth Rugby team. He graduated with first class honours in Maths and Physics from the University of Bath. In 2003 Rees played for Wales Minor Counties and Glamorgan's 2nd XI. He finally made his County Championship debut against Gloucestershire at Cheltenham. He won his county cap in 2009. Elmer Gethin Rees, (19 November 1941 – 4 October 2019) was a Welsh mathematician with publications in areas ranging from topology, differential geometry, algebraic geometry, linear algebra and Morse theory to robotics. He held the post of Director of the Heilbronn Institute for Mathematical Research, a partnership between the University of Bristol and the British signals intelligence agency GCHQ, from its creation in 2005 until 2009. Harold Elgan Rees (born 5 January 1954) is a Welsh former international rugby union player. Rugby career Rees toured with the British & Irish Lions to New Zealand in 1977, when he had yet to be capped by Wales, and South Africa in 1980 and at the time played club rugby for Neath. He made his international debut for the Lions against New Zealand at Eden Park, Auckland in August 1977 but had to wait until January 1979 for his first Wales cap, against Scotland at Murrayfield. Eleri Mair Rees (''née'' Morgan; born 7 July 1953) is a Welsh judge. Since 18 June 2012, she has been the Resident Judge of Cardiff Crown Court and Recorder of Cardiff.
