Redu
Redu ( wa, Ridû) is a village of Wallonia and district of the municipality of Libin, located in the province of Luxembourg, Belgium. The village is twinned with Hay-on-Wye in the United Kingdom and was one of the first book towns. The village was given new life by the development of the book trade in the 1980s but now faces an uncertain future with the decline in the brick-and-mortar book trade. Several of the book shops have closed and most of the others are having trouble. The ESTRACK Redu Station for the European Space Agency is located about a kilometre away. Redu Station
Redu Station is an ESTRACK radio Antenna (electronics), antenna station for communication with spacecraft. The station is located in Wallonia, about one kilometre away from the village of Redu, Belgium. The ground terminals provide tracking capabilities in C band (IEEE), C band, L-band, S-band, Ku band, Ku band, and Ka band, Ka band as well as provide in-orbit tests of Communications satellite, telecommunication satellites. ESTRACK
The European Space Tracking (ESTRACK) network consists of a number of ground-based space-tracking stations belonging to the European Space Agency (ESA), and operated by the European Space Operations Centre (ESOC) in Darmstadt, Germany. The stations support various ESA spacecraft and facilitate communications between ground operators and scientific probes such as XMM-Newton, Mars Express, BepiColombo, Gaia. Similar networks are run by the USA, China, Russia, Japan, and India. Composition The Core ESTRACK network is composed of seven ESA-owned ground stations and the ESTRACK Control Centre in the ESOC. Four of the stations are used for tracking satellites and launchers near Earth and three are used for tracking deep-space probes. Libin, Belgium
Libin () is a municipality of Wallonia located in the province of Luxembourg, Belgium. On 1 January 2019 the municipality, which covers 140.5 km², had 5,223 inhabitants, giving a population density of 37.2 inhabitants per km². The municipality consists of the following districts: Anloy, Libin, Ochamps, Redu, Smuid, Transinne, and Villance. Other population centers include: Glaireuse, Hamaide, Lesse, Libin-Bas, Libin-Haut, and Sèchery. Redu is famous for its bookshops, and for hosting a large European Space Agency ground station. Hay-on-Wye
Hay-on-Wye ( cy, Y Gelli Gandryll), simply known locally as "Hay" ( cy, Y Gelli), is a market town and community in Powys, Wales; it was historically in the county of Brecknockshire. With over twenty bookshops, it is often described as "the town of books"; it is both the ''National Book Town of Wales'' and the site of the annual Hay Festival. The population of the town in 1841 was 1,455; this had grown to 1,680 by 1901. The town has grown little since, with 2018 estimates at 1,900. The built-up area includes Cusop across the border in England and has a population of around 2,000.
