Redmi (stylized in all caps) is a subsidiary brand owned by the Chinese electronics company Xiaomi. It was first launched in July 2013 as a budget smartphone line, and became a separate sub-brand of Xiaomi in 2019, to takeover entry-level and mid-range devices originally produced by Xiaomi brand, while Xiaomi itself produces upper-range and flagship Xiaomi (formerly Mi) phones. Redmi phones use Xiaomi's MIUI or Xiaomi HyperOS user interface on top of Android. Models are divided into the entry-level Redmi, the mid-range Redmi Note, and the high-end Redmi K. In 2022, a lower-priced entry-level lineup, Redmi A was introduced, with some models featuring Android Go and lacking MIUI user interface. The most significant difference from other Xiaomi smartphones is that Redmi uses less expensive components, allowing lower prices while retaining more advanced specifications. Poco (stylized as POCO), formerly known as Poco by Xiaomi is a Chinese brand owned by Xiaomi that specializes in smartphones. The Poco brand was first announced in August 2018 as a mid-range smartphone line under Xiaomi. Poco India became an independent brand on 17 January 2020, followed by its global counterpart on 24 November 2020. Poco released its first smartphone, the Pocophone F1 in August 2018. The Redmi Note 7 series refer to a series of smartphones released by Redmi, a sub-brand of Xiaomi. All (except the Redmi Note 7 variant in India) have 48 MP + 5 MP camera sensors. Most have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC, except the Redmi Note 7 Pro, which has a better Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 SoC. The phones support mobile network frequencies in different regions. The Note 7 is available in many local versions and a global version, compatible with mobile phone providers in most places; the Pro model is supplied in slightly different Chinese and Indian versions. The Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus are Android smartphones developed by Xiaomi Inc, announced on 7 December 2017. They are part of Xiaomi's budget Redmi smartphone line. The Redmi 5 Plus has been rebranded as the Redmi Note 5 for the Indian market. Specifications Hardware The Redmi 5 runs on the Snapdragon 450 processor, and the Plus variant runs on Snapdragon 625. Redmi 5 has a 5.7-inch HD+ display, while the Plus comes with 5.99-inch Full HD+ one, both have an 18:9 aspect ratio. MIUI is a deprecated mobile operating system by Xiaomi for its smartphones and devices, from 2010 to 2023, prior to the launch of its successor Xiaomi HyperOS.
