Red Velvet Cake
Red velvet cake is traditionally a red, red-brown, crimson, or scarlet-colored layer cake, layered with ermine icing. Traditional recipes do not use food coloring, with the red color due to non- Dutched, anthocyanin-rich cocoa. Common ingredients include buttermilk, butter, cocoa, vinegar, and flour. Beet juice or red food coloring may be used for the color. History Velvet cake is thought to have originated in Maryland in the early 20th century. In the 19th century, "velvet" cake, a soft and velvety crumb cake, came to be served as a fancy dessert, in contrast to what had been the more common, coarser-crumbed cake. Around the turn of the 20th century, devil's food cake was introduced, which is how some believe that red velvet cake came about. The key difference between the two cakes is that devil's food cake uses chocolate and red velvet cake uses cocoa. When foods were rationed in the US during World War II, bakers used boiled beet juices to enhance the color of their ... Red Velvet (Korean: 레드벨벳; romanized: ''Ledeubelbet''; Japanese: レッドベルベット; romanized: ''Reddoberubetto'') is a South Korean girl group formed and managed by SM Entertainment. They originally debuted on August 1, 2014, with the single "Happiness" with the four-member line-up of Irene, Seulgi, Wendy and Joy. A fifth member, Yeri, joined the group in March 2015, following the release of their first mini album, ''Ice Cream Cake''. Musically, the work of Red Velvet reflects their own group name: their predominantly- pop "red" side experiments occasionally with electronic and funk, and while their "velvet" side focuses on '90s-influenced R&B with elements of ballad and hip hop. Their genre versatility and hooks have garnered critical praise. The group's Korean-language discography includes two studio albums, one reissue album, one compilation album, and ten extended plays—twelve of which have topped the South Korean Gaon Album Chart. Red Velvet (song)
"Red Velvet" is a song written by Ian Tyson and recorded by Johnny Cash. While the Cash version is the best known, it was first recorded by Ian & Sylvia Tyson in 1965 on their album ''Early Morning Rain''. Recorded by Cash at the Columbia Studios in Nashville, Tennessee, the song was released in September 1967 as a single (Columbia 4-44288, with " The Wind Changes" on the opposite side). U.S. '' Billboard'' gave the song a "Country Spotlight" review, stating: "Folkster Ian Tyson's plaintive ballad serves as potent material for Cash as he performs it in his compelling and winning style. Another big Cash hit," but in the end, "Red Velvet" did not chart at all, while the flip side charted on the ''Billboard'' country chart, but made it only to number 60 and dropped off completely after only six weeks. Later the song was included on Johnny Cash's album '' Old Golden Throat'' (1968). Analysis Other Versions * Gordon Lightfoot Gordon Meredith Lightfoot Jr. (born Novem ...
