''Red Love'' (German: Rote Liebe) is a 1982 German film directed by Rosa von Praunheim. The film premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival in 1982 and was shown, for example, at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City in 1983. Plot This film, based on a novella by Alexandra Kollontai, is about the Soviet women's rights activist and revolutionary Vasilissa, who wants to emancipate herself from her domineering lover Vladimir, the director of the trade cooperative. As a last resort, she has only the murder of the bitter patriarch. Holger Bernhard Bruno Mischwitzky (born Holger Radtke; 25 November 1942), known professionally as Rosa von Praunheim, is a German film director, author, painter and one of the most famous gay rights activists in the German-speaking world. In over 50 years, von Praunheim has made more than 150 films (short and feature-length films). His works influenced the development of LGBTQ+ rights movements worldwide. He began his career associated to the New German Cinema as a senior member of the Berlin school of underground filmmaking. He took the artistic female name Rosa von Praunheim to remind people of the pink triangle that homosexuals had to wear in Nazi concentration camps, as well as the Frankfurt neighborhood of Praunheim where he grew up. Hellmuth Karasek (4 January 1934 – 29 September 2015) was a German journalist, literary critic, novelist, and the author of many books on literature and film. He was one of Germany's best-known feuilletonists. Biography Karasek was born in the capital city of Moravia, Brno (german: link=no, Brünn), which was then a part of Czechoslovakia (current-day Czech Republic). Karasek attended the National Political Institutes of Education in Loben. In 1944, when he was ten, his family fled from Bielitz (today Bielsko in Poland) in the neighbouring German region of Silesia to Bernburg in Saxony-Anhalt. After finishing his schooling in the early 1950s he moved from there—then part of East Germany—to West Germany and became a student at the University of Tübingen, where he studied History, German and English language and literature.
