Old English Language
Old English (, ), or Anglo-Saxon, is the earliest recorded form of the English language, spoken in England and southern and eastern Scotland in the early Middle Ages. Seahouses
Seahouses is a large village on the North Northumberland coast in England. It is about north of Alnwick, within the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Attraction Seahouses attracts many visitors, mainly from the north east area. However national and international tourists often come to Seahouses whilst visiting the Northumberland National Park, Northumberland Coast and the Farne Islands. Seahouses also has a working fishing port, which also serves the tourist trade, being the embarkation point for visits to the Farne Islands. Great Yarmouth (borough)
The Borough of Great Yarmouth is a local government district with borough status in Norfolk, England. It is named after its main town, Great Yarmouth. History The borough was formed on 1 April 1974, under the Local Government Act 1972, as a merger of the former county borough of Great Yarmouth, along with part of Blofield and Flegg Rural District, and also part of the Lothingland Rural District in East Suffolk. Lothingland
Lothingland is an area in the English county, English counties of Suffolk and Norfolk on the North Sea coast. It is bound by the River Yare and Breydon Water to the north, the River Waveney to the west and Oulton Broad to the south, and includes the parts of Lowestoft north of Lake Lothing. In antiquity the River Waveney flowed to the sea through Oulton Broad and Lake Lothing, reaching the sea at Lowestoft, meaning that together with the mouth of the River Yare Lothingland was historically an island, and was indeed known as the Island of Lothingland. When the Waveney deviated its course on its current sharp turn to the north this was no longer the case. Thomas Nashe
Thomas Nashe (baptised November 1567 – c. 1601; also Nash) was an Elizabethan playwright, poet, satirist and a significant pamphleteer. He is known for his novel ''The Unfortunate Traveller'', his pamphlets including ''Pierce Penniless,'' and his numerous defences of the Church of England. Mark Kurlansky (December 7, 1948) is an American journalist and writer of general interest non-fiction. He has written a number of books of fiction and non-fiction. His 1997 book, ''Cod: A Biography of the Fish That Changed the World'' (1997), was an international bestseller and was translated into more than 15 languages. His book '' Nonviolence: Twenty-five Lessons From the History of a Dangerous Idea'' (2006) was the non-fiction winner of the 2007 Dayton Literary Peace Prize. Bloater (herring)
Bloaters are a type of whole cold- smoked herring. Bloaters are "salted and lightly smoked without gutting, giving a characteristic slightly gamey flavour" and are particularly associated with Great Yarmouth, England. Popular in the 19th and early 20th centuries, the food is now described as rare. Bloaters are sometimes called Yarmouth bloater, or, jokingly, as a Yarmouth capon, two-eyed steak, or Billingsgate pheasant (after the Billingsgate Fish Market in London). The bloater is associated with England, while kippers share an association with Scotland and the Isle of Man (the Manx kipper). Buckling (fish)
A buckling is a form of hot-smoked herring similar to the kipper and the bloater. The head and guts are removed but the roe or milt remain. They may be eaten hot or cold.
