Red And Black Column
The Red and Black Column was the fifth militia column organized by the CNT-FAI in Barcelona to send to the Aragon front. Its incorporation took place in mid-September, in the Province of Huesca as a reinforcement to the anarchist '' Ascaso'' and '' Harriers'' columns. According to Alberto Bayo, the contingent formed with "militiamen from the Unified Socialist Party of Catalonia, a century of foreigners, young people from Estat Català, from the National Confederation of Labor, from the Republican Left of Catalonia, Acció Catalana and the Iberian Anarchist Federation Iberian refers to Iberia. Harriers Column
The Harriers Column of the FAI, or Los Aguiluchos, was the last of the great Catalan anarcho-syndicalist columns. Later, more militias left Catalonia for the front, but they would no longer do so in the form of a column but rather as reinforcement units of the existing columns. This column was supposed to form a large unit - of around 10,000 combatants - but it ended up reinforcing the Ascaso Column as an autonomous column - with about 1,500 militiamen with 200 militiawomen. Organized in the Bakunin barracks in Barcelona, it was sent to the Huesca front on 28 August, with Juan García Oliver and Miguel García Vivancos leading the column. Catalan Action ( ca, Acció Catalana, AC) was a Catalanist political movement in the first third of the 20th century. A company is a military unit, typically consisting of 80–250 soldiers and usually commanded by a major or a captain. Alberto Bayo y Giroud (27 March 1892 – 4 August 1967) was a Cubans, Cuban military commander of the Republican faction (Spanish Civil War), Republican faction during the Spanish Civil War. His most significant action during the war was the attempted invasion of the Nationalist faction (Spanish Civil War), Nationalist-held islands of Ibiza and Majorca at the Battle of Majorca. He was also a poet and essayist. Biography He was born in Cuba and studied in the United States and Spain. In his youth he joined the Spanish Military Aviation. He had his first flight in 1916. He was expelled from the Aviation after taking part in a duel. He was then forced to join the Spanish Legion in 1924, and participated in the Moroccan War, which he stayed for two years as a company commander.
