Red an orchestra was an American chamber orchestra based in Cleveland, Ohio. Established in 2001, its Artistic Director and conductor was Jonathan Sheffer. The orchestra's repertoire spanned the work of Renaissance composers including Heinrich Schütz to contemporary classical composers including Frank Zappa, John Corigliano, and Sheffer himself. Red also engaged in innovative multimedia collaborations with film, puppetry, visual art, narration, and other art forms. CityMusic Cleveland
CityMusic Cleveland is an American chamber orchestra based in Cleveland, Ohio. It was founded in the summer of 2004 to give free concerts throughout the Northeast Ohio area. Composed of professional free-lance musicians from the Cleveland area and beyond, the orchestra partners with community leaders, mayors, council members, and local civic organizations, to expand the audience for cultural events. Concerts are accompanied, occasionally, by art exhibits, featuring local and regional artists. James Gaffigan was the orchestra's music director in July 2005 till January 2010. Avner Dorman, well-known composer, was appointed Music Director in July, 2013. The orchestra's flexible membership ranges between 34 and 44 performers. Cleveland Women's Orchestra
The Cleveland Women's Orchestra is an American orchestra made up entirely of female musicians, based in Cleveland, Ohio. It was founded in 1935 and performed its first concert in 1936. It is one of the oldest women's orchestra in the world after the Orchestre féminin de Paris (founded in 1930). The orchestra's music director from its founding was Hyman Schandler. Schandler, also a violinist in the Cleveland Orchestra, continued as conductor into the 1980s. The current music director is Robert L. Cronquist. The Cleveland Philharmonic Orchestra (also called Cleveland Philharmonic) is an American orchestra based in Cleveland, Ohio. It was founded in 1938 and its current music director (since 2007) is Victor H. Liva. The Cleveland Philharmonic Orchestra is a full symphony orchestra which was founded in 1938 by three Cleveland area musicians — bass clarinetist Alfred Zetzer, oboist Robert Zupnik, and cellist Irving Klein — who all went on to professional careers. Chamber music is a form of classical music that is composed for a small group of instruments—traditionally a group that could fit in a palace chamber or a large room.
