Red Star
A red star, five-pointed and filled, is a symbol that has often historically been associated with communist ideology, particularly in combination with the hammer and sickle, but is also used as a purely socialist symbol in the 21st century. It has been widely used in flags, state emblems, monuments, ornaments, and logos. One interpretation sees the five points as representing the five fingers of the worker's hand, as well as the five populated continents (counting the Americas as one). A lesser-known suggestion is that in communist symbolism, the five points on the star were intended to represent the five social groups that would lead Russia to communism: the youth, the military, the industrial labourers, the agricultural workers or peasantry and the intelligentsia. In Soviet heraldry, the red star symbolized the Red Army and military service, as opposed to the hammer and sickle, which symbolized peaceful labour. Different countries across Europe treat the symbol very diff ...

Red Sex Link
Red is the color at the long wavelength end of the visible spectrum of light, next to orange and opposite violet. It has a dominant wavelength of approximately 625–740 nanometres. It is a primary color in the RGB color model and a secondary color (made from magenta and yellow) in the CMYK color model, and is the complementary color of cyan. Reds range from the brilliant yellow-tinged scarlet and vermillion to bluish-red crimson, and vary in shade from the pale red pink to the dark red burgundy. Red pigment made from ochre was one of the first colors used in prehistoric art. The Ancient Egyptians and Mayans colored their faces red in ceremonies; Roman generals had their bodies colored red to celebrate victories. It was also an important color in China, where it was used to color early pottery and later the gates and walls of palaces. In the Renaissance, the brilliant red costumes for the nobility and wealthy were dyed with kermes and cochineal. The 19th century broug ...

Red Star (UK)
Red Star was a revolutionary socialist organisation in Britain formed by former members of the Communist Party of Great Britain (Provisional Central Committee), the Alliance for Workers' Liberty and the Peace Party. Founded in July 2004 as the Red Party, it produced five issues of its paper called the ''Red Star''. History Red Platform Politically, the Red Party was a continuation of the Red Platform of the CPGB formed in April 2004 in opposition to the CPGB's electoral support for Respect Party, with the aim to reverse the CPGB's withdrawal from the Socialist Alliance Democracy Platform. It also argued for greater democracy and humanism in the party's internal structure. Though it won the battle to take the CPGB back into the SADP, most of the platform members left following disputes over the publication of their views in the '' Weekly Worker''. The Red Party regarded the division of the left into separate groups as natural and even a healthy sign that socialists are a ...

Red Star (album)
''Red Star'' is an album by alto saxophonist Noah Howard on which he is joined by drummer Kenny Clarke. It was recorded in Paris on May 16, 1977, and was released later that year by Mercury Records. The album also features trumpeter Richard Williams, pianist Bobby Few, and bassist Guy Pederson. Reception In a review for AllMusic, Eugene Chadbourne wrote: "Followers of jazz who sometimes wince at the constant bickering between this scene and that, modern or moldy, fusion or free, can all take heart in a recording such as this one. A saxophonist more known on the free scene comes together with one of the great bop drummers. The band surrounding them contains players that are comfortable in both contexts, and the material winds up having the rhythmic sway of traditional swing harnessed with the energetic power of free jazz." The authors of ''The Penguin Guide to Jazz Recordings'' called the album "a fascinating meeting of styles," and stated: "The sound is excellent... and the emp ...
