Red/black Concept
The red/black concept, named in comparison to a typewriter ribbon and sometimes called the red–black architecture or red/black engineering, refers to the careful segregation in cryptographic systems of signals that contain sensitive or Classified information, classified plaintext information (red signals) from those that carry encrypted information, or ciphertext (black signals). Therefore, the red side is usually considered the internal side, and the black side the more public side, with often some sort of Guard (information security), guard, Firewall (computing), firewall or Unidirectional network, data-diode between the two. In NSA jargon, encryption devices are often called Blacker (security), blackers, because they convert red signals to black. Tempest (codename), TEMPEST standards spelled out in Tempest/NSTISSAM TEMPEST/2-95, 2-95 specify shielding or a minimum physical distance between wires or equipment carrying or processing red and black signals. Red-black Striped Snake
The red-black striped snake (''Bothrophthalmus lineatus'') is the monotypical member of the genus ''Bothrophthalmus.'' This snake is found in the Sub-Saharan African countries of Rwanda, Uganda, Burundi, Angola and Guinea. It is a harmless snake, black with five red stripes down its back. It lives in forests and forest islands from 700 to 2300 m altitude, often near water. A terrestrial and nocturnal snake, when not active, it hides in holes, leaf litter, and in or under rotting logs. It may bite furiously if handled (although it is harmless). Females lay clutches of about five eggs; it eats small forest animals such as shrews and mice. The two recognized subspecies In Taxonomy (biology), biological classification, subspecies (: subspecies) is a rank below species, used for populations that live in different areas and vary in size, shape, or other physical characteristics (Morphology (biology), morpholog ... are: *''Bothrophthalmus lineatus brunneus'' ( Günther, 1863) * ...

Red–black Tree
In computer science, a red–black tree is a self-balancing binary search tree data structure noted for fast storage and retrieval of ordered information. The nodes in a red-black tree hold an extra "color" bit, often drawn as red and black, which help ensure that the tree is always approximately balanced. When the tree is modified, the new tree is rearranged and "repainted" to restore the coloring properties that constrain how unbalanced the tree can become in the worst case. The properties are designed such that this rearranging and recoloring can be performed efficiently. The (re-)balancing is not perfect, but guarantees searching in O(\log n) time, where n is the number of entries in the tree. The insert and delete operations, along with tree rearrangement and recoloring, also execute in O(\log n) time. Tracking the color of each node requires only one bit of information per node because there are only two colors (due to memory alignment present in some programming languag ...
