Recreation Park in Long Beach, California is a large recreation center in the southeast section of the city. The park has a lawn bowling green, dog park, casting pond, and playground. Special facilities include the Billie Jean King Tennis Center, and the Joe Rodgers Field and Blair Field baseball facilities. There are both 18-hole and 9-hole golf courses. The 18-hole course is one of the busiest in the nation. The park's community center offers a wide range of classes for the community. There is also a reserved picnic site for large picnic groups. In fishing, casting is the act of the actively throwing a fishing tackle or rig into the water in order to deploy it. In recreational fishing, the term most commonly describes an angler launching a baited hook (or a lure) as well as other attached terminal tackles (e.g. float or sinker) out far over the water, typically by slinging a line manipulated by a long, elastic rod. Blair Field
Blair Field is a stadium in Long Beach, California. It originally opened in 1956 and is primarily used for baseball. It holds 3,238 people. It is named for Frank Blair, the sports editor for the ''Long Beach Press-Telegram'' newspaper for 32 years. Located in Recreation Park, it was constructed in 1958 and over the years has fostered local amateur baseball and hosted Moore League high school football and baseball teams, along with American Legion and Connie Mack baseball.
