Recioto Di Soave DOCG
Recioto di Soave DOCG is an Italian wine DOCG subregion of the Soave DOC. It was granted DOCG status in 1998. Recioto di Soave DOCG is made in the recioto method from grapes which have been dried out, traditionally on straw mats, for several weeks or months after harvest. A sweet wine, Recioto di Soave must be made of at least 70% Garganega grapes, and no more than 30% Trebbiano di Soave grapes allowed per DOCG regulations. Straw wine, or raisin wine, is a wine made from grapes that have been dried to concentrate their juice. The result is similar to that of the ice wine process, but is a much older process and suitable for warm climates. The technique dates back to pre-Classical times with wines becoming fashionable in Ancient Rome, Roman times and in late Medieval Europe, Medieval/Renaissance Europe when wines such as Malmsey ('Malvasia' originally from Greece) and Candia (from Crete) were highly sought after. Traditionally, most production of these wines has been in Greece, the islands of Sicily, Cyprus, Northern Italy and the French Alps. However, producers in other areas now use the method as well. Under the classic method, after a careful hand harvest, selected bunches of ripe grapes will be laid out on mats in full sun. Soave ( , ) is a dry white Italian wine from the Veneto region in northeast Italy, principally around the city of Verona. Within the Soave region are both a '' Denominazione di Origine Controllata'' (DOC) zone and since 2001 a '' Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita'' (DOCG) designation known as ''Soave Superiore'', with both zones being further sub-divided into a general and ''Classico'' designation for the wines produced in the heartland of the Soave region around the sloping vineyards of Verona. Garganega (, ; meaning "from Gargano") is a variety of white Italian wine grape widely grown in the Veneto region of North East Italy, particularly in the provinces of Verona and Vicenza. Wines Of Veneto
Venetian wine is produced in Veneto, a highly productive wine region in north-eastern Italy. The broader area comprising Veneto, Friuli-Venezia Giulia and Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol is known collectively as the ''Tre Venezie'', after the Republic of Venice.
