Rechelim
Rehelim () is an Israeli settlement in the northern West Bank. Located on Route 60, between Kfar Tapuach and Eli, east of Ariel and adjacent to the Palestinian towns of Yatma and Qabalan, it falls under the jurisdiction of Shomron Regional Council. In January 2021, under Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli government decided to legalize the illegal, nearby outpost of Nofei Nehemia, by reclassifying it as a “neighborhood” of the Rehelim settlement, which itself was an illegal outpost that was legalized a few years prior. Nofei Nehemia
Nofei Nehemia ( he, נוֹפֵי נְחֶמְיָה) is an Israeli outpost in the West Bank, in the jurisdiction of the Shomron Regional Council in the northern West Bank. It is officially within the boundaries of Rehelim, a nearby Israeli settlement. First established in 2002, it is situated adjacent to Rechelim on Route 60, between Kfar Tapuach and Eli. The village also lies adjacent to the Palestinian towns of Iskaka and Yasuf. A few dozen families live on the village. Israeli outposts are illegal under international law and also under Israeli law. History The village is named after Nehemia Ben Yehuda, the head of a family who owns a crane company who have been very involved in assisting the establishment of settlements in the West Bank. Killing Of Aisha Al-Rabi
On October 12, 2018, Aisha al-Rabi, 47, a Palestinian woman, was killed by Jewish settler teens near the Tapuah Junction in the northern Israeli-occupied West Bank south of Nablus as they hurled rocks at the car she was traveling in. One particularly large rock smashed the front windshield and crushed her skull. In December 2018, five teenage boys from a nearby Jewish religious boarding schools where detained as suspects of the crime. Four of them were released in January 2019, but the last one, a 16-year-old boy were held until he was placed in house arrest in May. In May 2020, it was reported that he had been allowed to return home to his settlement in the West Bank. His trial has not yet begun. The attack was labelled a terrorist attack by the Israeli government but Aisha al-Rabi's family has not received compensation from it because they are not Israeli citizens. Shomron Regional Council
The Shomron Regional Council ( he, מועצה אזורית שומרון, ''Mo'atza Azorit Shomron'', English ''Samaria Regional Council'') is an Israeli regional council in the northern portion of the Israeli-occupied West Bank. Thirty-five Israeli settlements fall under its jurisdiction. As of December 2020 the jurisdiction area of the council has a population of about 47,200 people. Jericho Bus Firebombing
The Jericho bus firebombing was a Palestinian terrorist attack that occurred during the First Intifada outside the West Bank town of Jericho. In the attack, a bus was targeted by militants wielding molotov cocktails, and destroyed. It resulted in the deaths of 5 Israelis, and the wounding of 5 others. Two perpetrators were arrested immediately, and imprisoned by Israel. They were released after 25 years as part of the renewal of peace negotiations with the Palestinian National Authority. Har Brakha ( he, הַר בְּרָכָה, ''lit.'' Mount fBlessing) is an Israeli settlement located on the southern ridge of Mount Gerizim at an elevation of above sea level, in the West Bank's Samarian mountains, near the Palestinian city of Nablus. As-Sawiya ( ar, الساويه) is a Palestinian town in the Nablus Governorate of the State of Palestine, in the northern West Bank, located 18 kilometers south of Nablus.
