Rebecca Wilson
Rebecca Louise Wilson (22 December 1961 – 7 October 2016) was an Australian sports journalist, radio and television broadcaster and personality, known for the comic television talk sports show ''The Fat'', in which she appeared regularly with host Tony Squires. She was a panellist on numerous television programs including ''Beauty and the Beast'', ''Sunrise'' and '' The Footy Show''. She worked in both the newspaper and television industries for over 20 years and won a Kennedy Award in 2013. Biography Early life Wilson was born in Brisbane in 1961. She recollected that she could not remember a time when newspapers were not in her life – her grandfather was a newsagent and her father a journalist. The Walkley Award for Journalism Leadership is an Australian award that recognises outstanding acts of courage and bravery in the practice of journalism, in the prestigious Walkley Awards series. ''SportsNight with James Bracey'' was an Australian television sports news and commentary program previously broadcast 4 nights weekly on Sky News Australia, hosted by James Bracey. The program was broadcast from the Sky News centre in the Sydney suburb of Macquarie Park. The program covers the latest news in local and international sports, and discusses it with a rotating panel of commentators. On 7 April 2015 the program had an all female panel for the first time, with Rebecca Wilson, Melinda Gainsford-Taylor and Liz Ellis. The set featured pink lighting to celebrate. While a 30-minute edition simply titled ''SportsNight'' was airing on the remaining three nights, the show was expanded to one hour from 18 December 2015 from Fridays to Sunday, hosted by Luke Doherty. He is best known for the satirical game show ''Good News Week'', which ran on the ABC and Network Ten between 1996 and 2000, and returned again when the series was resurrected in February 2008.
