Rebecca Sarker
Rebecca Sarker (born 1975) is an English actress. After portraying the role of Nita Desai in the ITV soap opera ''Coronation Street'' from 1999 to 2000, she made various appearances in television series including '' Rosemary and Thyme, Doctors'', ''Holby City'', '' The Golden Hour'' and ''EastEnders''. In 2018, she began appearing in the ITV soap opera ''Emmerdale'' as Manpreet Sharma. Early life Sarker is from Halifax, West Yorkshire. Her parents met while working at a hospital in Nottingham; her father, Khaleque, is a British Bangladeshi GP, and her mother, Elizabeth, is an English children's nurse. Her older brother is a dentist. Sarker attended Bradford Girls' Grammar School. She pursued a degree in Modern Languages at Leeds University and spent a year teaching English in Spain, where she took up flamenco dancing. Halifax, West Yorkshire
Halifax is a town in the Metropolitan Borough of Calderdale, in West Yorkshire, England. It is in the eastern foothills of the Pennines. In the 15th century, the town became an economic hub of the old West Riding of Yorkshire, primarily in woollen manufacture with the large Piece Hall square later built for trading wool in the town centre. Bradford Girls' Grammar School
Bradford Girls' Grammar School is a free school for girls aged 5 – 16 and boys aged 5 – 11. Founded in 1875, the school is on the outskirts of Bradford city centre in West Yorkshire, England. Recent public examination results put the school top in Bradford and among the top three in Yorkshire. Bradford Girls has a debating society, which Barbara Castle attended when at the school. ''The Brief'' is a British crime drama series first broadcast on ITV (TV network), ITV on 25 April 2004. ''Believe Nothing'' is a British sitcom starring Rik Mayall as Quadruple Professor Adonis Cnut, the cleverest man in Britain, and Oxford's leading moral philosopher.
