Rebecca Johnston
Rebecca Anne Johnston (born September 24, 1989) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player for the Calgary section of the PWHPA and, since 2007, the Canadian national team. She played four seasons at Cornell University and was selected second overall in the 2012 CWHL Draft by the Calgary Inferno. As of 2022 she has three Winter Olympic gold medals and one silver, and two world championship titles. Playing career Canada Winter Games Johnston (and future Cornell teammate Catherine White) represented Ontario at the 2007 Canada Winter Games. In the gold medal match versus Manitoba, Johnston and White each had one goal and two assists, as Ontario won by a score of 6–3 and finished the tournament undefeated. Greater Sudbury
Sudbury, officially the City of Greater Sudbury is the largest city in Northern Ontario by population, with a population of 166,004 at the 2021 Canadian Census. 2012 IIHF Women's World Championship
The 2012 IIHF World Women's Championships was the 14th such event hosted by the International Ice Hockey Federation and took place in Vermont, United States, at the Gutterson Fieldhouse in Burlington, and the Cairns Arena in South Burlington. The competition also served as qualifications for the 2013 competition, and the 2014 Olympics. The Top Division was contested between eight teams from April 7 to April 14, 2012, in Burlington and was hosted by USA Hockey. Canada won their tenth title by defeating the United States 5–4 in overtime. Caroline Ouellette scored the decisive goal. Catherine White (ice Hockey)
Catherine White (born February 5, 1990) is a Canadian ice hockey player. White has competed for Hockey Canada in numerous international tournaments. Currently, she is a member of the Cornell Big Red. Of note, she scored the first goal in the history of the Canadian National Women's Under 18 program (on August 23, 2007 in Ottawa, Ontario). Playing career White captained the Brampton Canadettes to a bronze medal at OWHA provincials in 2004. She was a member of Ontario Blue at the November 2005 National Women's Under-18 Championship, finishing sixth. White won a gold medal with Team Ontario Red at the 2007 National Women's Under-18 Championship. At the 2007 OWHA provincials, she skated with Mississauga and won a bronze medal. 2019 IIHF Women's World Championship
The 2019 IIHF Women's World Championship was an international Ice hockey tournament run by the International Ice Hockey Federation. It was contested in Espoo, Finland from 4 to 14 April 2019 at the Espoo Metro Areena. The United States won their fifth consecutive and ninth overall title after a shootout win over Finland. Canada claimed the bronze medal by defeating Russia 7–0. After the 2017 tournament, it was announced that tournament would expand to ten teams for 2019, having been played with eight teams since the first tournament in 1990, except in 2004, 2007, 2008, and 2009, where nine teams played.
