Rebbenesøya
or ) is an island in Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. The southern third of the island is part of Tromsø Municipality while the northern (larger) portion of the island is part of Karlsøy Municipality. There is a regular ferry connection from Bromnes on the eastern end on Rebbensøya to Mikkelvik on the northwestern end of the neighboring island of Ringvassøya. On Rebbenesøya, there are many mountains that are suitable for tourists who enjoy the outdoors and hiking. The highest point on the island is Geittinden at a height of . There are also about 20 fishing lakes. The uninhabited island nature reserve of Sørfugløya lies off the north-west coast. The island's school is in Skogvika; it had six students in the 2012/2013 school year. The island also has a convenience store located in Engvika. Sørfugløya
Sørfugløya or Sør-Fugløy is a small (97 ha) uninhabited island and nature reserve in Karlsøy Municipality, Troms og Finnmark county, in Arctic northern Norway. It lies just north-west of the larger inhabited island of Rebbenesøya. It is a steep island with grassy slopes surrounded by boulder scree. Ringvassøya
or is a large island in Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. It is divided between the municipalities of Tromsø and Karlsøy. Several islands surround Ringvassøya including Kvaløya to the south; Reinøya and Karlsøya to the east; Vannøya, Helgøya, and Nordkvaløya to the north; and Rebbenesøya to the north west. The island is connected to the neighboring island (and the rest of mainland Norway) by the Kvalsund Tunnel on the south shore of the island. With an area of , Ringvassøy is the sixth largest island in mainland Norway. The island's highest point, Soltindan, has a height of above sea level. The long Skogsfjordvatnet is the largest lake on an island in Norway. Jan Baalsrud
Jan Sigurd Baalsrud, MBE (13 December 1917 – 30 December 1988) was a commando in the Norwegian resistance trained by the British during World War II. Biography Early life Jan Baalsrud was born in Kristiania (now Oslo), Norway and moved with his family to Kolbotn in the early 1930s. He lived there until the 1950s. He graduated as a cartographical instrument-maker in 1939. World War II During the German invasion of Norway in 1940, Baalsrud fought in Vestfold. He later escaped to Sweden, which was neutral, but he was convicted of espionage and expelled from the country. In 1941, Baalsrud reached Great Britain after having travelled through the Soviet Union, Africa and the US. He joined the Norwegian Company Linge. In early 1943, he, three other commandos, and a boat crew of eight, all Norwegians, embarked on a mission to destroy a German airfield control tower at Bardufoss, and recruit for the Norwegian resistance movement. Arne Skouen (18 October 1913 – 24 May 2003) was a Norwegian journalist, author, film director and film producer. Biography Arne Skouen was born in Kristiania (now Oslo), Norway. His parents were Peder Nikolai Skouen (1883-1978) and Jenny Emanuelson (1883-1975). He graduated at Hegdehaugen School in 1933. He had three distinct career careers: journalist, author and filmmaker, partly at the same time. He was a journalist at ''Dagbladet'' from 1935 to 1941. From 1941 during World War II, Skouen was associated with the Norwegian Resistance Movement during the occupation of Norway by Nazi Germany. ''Nine Lives'' ( no, Ni Liv) is a 1957 Norwegian film about Jan Baalsrud, a commando and member of the Norwegian resistance during World War II. Trained in Britain, in 1943, he participated in an operation to destroy a German air control tower. This mission was compromised when he and his fellow soldiers accidentally made contact with a civilian rather than a Resistance member, who betrayed them to the Nazis. The film was directed by Arne Skouen and is based on the book ''We Die Alone'' (1955) by British author David Howarth. In 1958, the film was nominated for an Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film and was entered into the Cannes Film Festival.
