"Real Late Starter" is the first single from Nerina Pallot's third album, '' The Graduate''. The single was released as a three-track digital download and as well as an exclusive 7" vinyl, only available on Nerina's website in the UK on 19 October 2009 after the release of the album, with a cover of Steely Dan's " Peg" and an acoustic version of "My Last Tango" (from '' Dear Frustrated Superstar'') as the B-sides. The song was written and produced by Nerina Pallot, mixed by Andy Chatterley and mastered at Blue Pro Mastering. Real Late Starter was A-Playlisted in the UK by BBC Radio 2. It did not reach the Official UK top 40 on release, but did reach number 19 in the Indie Singles chart. Nerina Natasha Georgina Pallot (born 26 April 1974) is an English singer, songwriter and producer, who has released six albums and over a dozen EPs. She was nominated for British Female Solo Artist at the 2007 BRIT Awards and nominated for an Ivor Novello Award for "Sophia (Nerina Pallot song), Sophia" in the category of 'Best Song (musically and lyrically)' in the same year. Besides her own material, Pallot has written songs for Kylie Minogue and Diana Vickers. She mostly tours around the UK and is married to record producer Andy Chatterley. ''The Graduate'' is the third studio album by London-born singer-songwriter Nerina Pallot, which was released in the United Kingdom on 5 October 2009. The album title refers to Pallot's 2009 graduation from university with a first-class honours English Literature degree. Background and production The album was released more than three years after the gold-selling ''Fires'' and marks a change in the musical genre for Pallot. According to her biography on her official MySpace page: "''The Graduate'' has piano-driven songs high on happy pills, woozy electronics and beefed up bass. The Echo Label
The Echo Label was a British record label started by Chrysalis Group in 1994, and linked with Pony Canyon in Japan. The Chrysalis Group were the original owners of Chrysalis Records, which they sold to EMI. In 2005, The Echo Label recorded a loss of over £2.0 million. The decision was taken to restructure the business at the beginning of the 2006 financial year, into an "incubator" for developing writer-artists with the intention of "upstreaming" them to a major label. ''Fires'' is the second album by London-born singer-songwriter Nerina Pallot. First released in April 2005 on her own independent record label, Idaho Records, ''Fires'' was met with much critical acclaim but did not gain commercial recognition. After working as a support act for artists such as Sheryl Crow and Suzanne Vega, Pallot was signed up to 14th Floor Records, who were impressed with the audience response and after-show sales of her album. Thus, ''Fires'' was reissued in late April 2006 with revamped artwork and some slight remixes on some of Pallot's songs. The album entered at UK #41 and later, on the strength of the popular single "Everybody's Gone to War", made it as far as #21. To date, the album has been certified gold in the UK for sales of over 100,000, and has earned Pallot a nomination at the 2007 BRIT Awards for Best British Female. ''Dear Frustrated Superstar'' is the debut album by Nerina Pallot. Following its release in August 2001, the album peaked at UK #82, but officially did not chart as the official UK Albums Chart lists only the Top 75 sellers. Following its lack of commercial success, Pallot publicly criticised the record, which, following the success of follow-up ''Fires'' in 2006, was re-shipped to stores by Polydor at a discount price.
