Read Viemeister
Read Viemeister (1922 – 10 September 1993) was an American industrial designer. He was the Creative Director for the Lippincott (brand consultancy), Lippincott team working on the Tucker 48, Tucker car in 1947, and the founder of Vie Design Studios in Yellow Springs, Ohio. Early life and education Born in Baltimore, MD, Baltimore in 1922 Read Viemeister was the son of architect August L. Viemeister and artist Janet Emmons Viemeister. The family later moved to a house his father designed in Roslyn Heights, NY. During the Depression they traveled to Taos, New Mexico, as well as the 1939 World's Fair. Later, Viemeister was exempted from military service because of a Polio disability. He went on to study at Pratt Institute with many of the founders of the American industrial design education: Donald Dohner, Alexander Kostellow and Rowena Reed Kostellow. Tucker Viemeister
Tucker L. Viemeister (born August 14, 1948) is an American industrial designer, and founder of Viemeister Industries in New York. Tucker helped found many important design businesses: Smart Design, frog design's New York studio, Razorfish's physical design group, Springtime-USA, and was chief of the lab at the Rockwell Group. While at Smart, he helped design the influential and award-winning Oxo "Good Grips" kitchen tools. He holds 32 US utility patents. His work is represented in the permanent collections of the Smithsonian Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum, New York; the Museum of Modern Art, New York; the Museum of Modern Art, San Francisco; and the Staatliches Museum, Berlin, Germany. Vice President of the Architectural League of New York, Viemeister is also a Fellow of the Industrial Designers Society of America. The Huffy Corporation is a supplier of bicycles with headquarters in Dayton, Ohio, United States. Early history It has its roots in 1887 when George P. Huffman purchased the Davis Sewing Machine Company and in 1890 moved its sewing machine factory from Watertown, New York, to Dayton, Ohio.
