Reaction Of Russian Intelligentsia To The 2014 Annexation Of Crimea
Russian intelligentsia expressed various reactions to the Russian annexation of Crimea. Supporting the annexation First letter of support Over 100 cultural figures signed a letter supporting Russia's return of Crimea. Among those who signed it were conductor Yuri Bashmet, film director Fyodor Bondarchuk, director Stanislav Govorukhin, film director Karen Shakhnazarov, actor Sergey Bezrukov, singer Lev Leshchenko, sculptor Alexander Bourganov, sculptor Zurab Tsereteli, and actor Dmitry Kharatyan. The letter was kept open to add signatures and eventually reached 511. Reaction to the letter The name of the famous theatre and film director Mark Zakharov appeared on a petition opposing Russian accession of Crimea, however, he himself denied ever signing it. He stated in an interview that he opposed Russian soldiers being deployed to Ukraine as it reminded him the start of the Afghanistan conflict, however, he also couldn't imagine Russia without Crimea. Alisa (russian: Алиса) is a Russian hard rock band, which is considered one of the most influential bands in the Russian rock movement. Biography Alisa was formed in November 1983 by bassist Svyatoslav Zadery. The band's name originated from Zadery's nickname. The band's lineup was finally completed in 1984, when new vocalist Kostya Kinchev (real name Konstantin Panfilov) and guitarist Petr Samoylov joined. Their debut album ''Energia'' was recorded between 1985 and 1986. ''Energia'' was released by the state publishing monopoly Melodiya in 1988 and sold more than a million copies. The relations between Alisa's two leaders, Kinchev and Zadery, deteriorated, and Zadery left the band. This occurred just one hour before Alisa was to perform at a concert. Since 2002, Kipelov leads his own metal band, Kipelov. Early life Kipelov was born in 1958 in Kapotnya, Moscow, Soviet Union.
