Re (Les Rita Mitsouko Album)
''Re'' is a remix album by French pop rock group Les Rita Mitsouko. It was released in 1990 and includes the singles "Hip Kit" and "Don't Forget the Nite". The album is compilation of new remixes, 12" single remixes and a new re-recording. Receiving mixed reviews the album was originally released as a Double-LP, 5x12" single, Cassette and CD in October 1990. The artwork was designed by Judith E. Christ with photography by Stephane Sednaoui. Catherine Ringer and Fred Chichin pose in clothing designed by Jean-Paul Gaultier. Conception The album was conceived by Fred Chichin as a remix project material from the group's first three studio albums (''Rita Mitsouko'' (1984), '' The No Comprendo'' (1986) and '' Marc & Robert'' (1988)). Chichin remixed half of the material under the alias 'Fat Freddy'. The remaining tracks are remixes by William Orbit, Mark Moore and Jesse Johnson compiled from former singles. Les Rita Mitsouko
Les Rita Mitsouko (, translation: ''The Rita Mitsukos'') were a French pop rock group formed by Fred Chichin and Catherine Ringer. The duo first performed as Rita Mitsouko at Gibus Club in Paris in 1980. They went on to become one of the most acclaimed musical acts in France. "Marcia Baila", their debut single produced by Conny Plank, went to number 2 in the French singles chart in 1984. They then started a collaboration with producer Tony Visconti on two albums: ''the No Comprendo'' and ''Marc & Robert''. "Singing in the Shower", sung as a duet with Sparks, was a commercial success in France and was then heavily played on US dance radio stations in 1988. Iggy Pop also collaborated with them on 1993's '' Système D'', duetting with Ringer on "My Love Is Bad". Chichin died from cancer in 2007. Rita Mitsouko (album)
''Rita Mitsouko'' is the début studio album by the French pop rock group Les Rita Mitsouko. It was released in April 1984 and includes the singles "Restez Avec Moi" and " Marcia Baïla". The album was recorded with veteran producer Conny Plank at Conny's Studio, Köln, Germany, and Studio Rita Mitsouko, Paris, with overdubs in Conny's Place. Receiving positive reviews, the album was originally released as an LP, cassette and CD in April 1984. CD editions include five bonus tracks. The artwork was designed by Les Rita Mitsouko and Atiai with photography by Bernard Pichon and Jean-Louis Sautreau. At the time of release the group was simply called Rita Mitsouko. In the interim between the début and 1986's ''The No Comprendo'', Catherine Ringer and Fred Chichin amended their name, adding 'Les' to 'Rita Mitsouko'. Ronald David Mael (born August 12, 1945) is an American musician, songwriter, composer and record producer. He is the keyboard player and principal songwriter in the band Sparks which he founded with vocalist, occasional songwriter and younger brother Russell Mael in 1971. Mael is known for his quirky and idiosyncratic approach to songwriting, his intricate and rhythmic keyboard playing style and for his deadpan and low key, scowling demeanour onstage often remaining motionless over his keyboard in sharp contrast to Russell's animated and hyperactive frontman antics. Sparks is an American pop and rock duo formed by brothers Ron (keyboards) and Russell Mael (vocals) in Los Angeles. Daniel Bigeault (born 1960), better known as Dee Nasty, is a French DJ, producer, and rapper. He is one of Radio Nova's original DJs, and is best known for producing France's first hip hop record. Career Dee Nasty began his DJing career back in 1981 after discovering Hip-Hop back in 1979. By 1985, he was already forming a formidable reputation both promoting and producing hip hop music. "Marcia Baïla" is a 1984 song recorded by the French duo Les Rita Mitsouko. It was the third single from their first album, ''Rita Mitsouko'', and was released in April of that year. Dedicated to a dancer with the band who died in 1981, this song was a big hit both in France and abroad and can be considered as being one of the band's signature songs. Jesse Woods Johnson (born June 1, 1960) is an American musician best known as the guitarist in the original lineup of The Time (more recently known as the Original 7ven). Life and career Johnson was born in Rock Island, Illinois. He moved to East St. Louis, Illinois at the age of nine and was raised by foster parents after his parents split up. At age 16 he moved back to Rock Island to live with his father Jackwood Johnson. Mark Moore
Mark Moore (born 12 January 1965) is a British dance music record producer and DJ. He was founder of the dance / Sampling (music), sampling pioneers S'Express, and runs the London nightclubs, 'Electrogogo' and 'Can Can'. Biography Moore began his DJ career in 1983 playing at the fashionable London club, 'The Mud Club', run by Philip Sallon. Later that year as his popularity grew he was given a slot at the alternative, mixed/gay night 'Asylum' at Heaven (nightclub), Heaven nightclub, which later became 'Pyramid' at Heaven.
