Mark Moore
Mark Moore (born 12 January 1965) is a British dance music record producer and DJ. He was founder of the dance / Sampling (music), sampling pioneers S'Express, and runs the London nightclubs, 'Electrogogo' and 'Can Can'. Biography Moore began his DJ career in 1983 playing at the fashionable London club, 'The Mud Club', run by Philip Sallon. Later that year as his popularity grew he was given a slot at the alternative, mixed/gay night 'Asylum' at Heaven (nightclub), Heaven nightclub, which later became 'Pyramid' at Heaven. He soon became a successful DJ often appearing in Time Out's 'best DJ' polls. As well as playing new-wave electronic dance music, such as Yello, Cabaret Voltaire (band), Cabaret Voltaire, Soft Cell and New Order (band), New Order; Moore was one of the first DJs in the UK to support and play Chicago House music and Detroit techno, Detroit Techno. Heaven (nightclub)
Heaven is a superclub in Charing Cross, London, England. It has a long association with London's LGBT scene and is home to long-running gay night G-A-Y. The club is known for Paul Oakenfold's acid house events in the 1980s, the underground nightclub festival Megatripolis, and for being the birthplace of ambient house. Soundshaft also hosted Future, a regular night on Thursdays run by Andrew Weatherall and Terry Farley. At the end of the night, both crowds would come together when the doors connecting Heaven & Future opened for the last couple of songs. "Theme from S-Express" is an acid house song by British electronic dance music group S'Express, from their debut studio album, ''Original Soundtrack'' (1989), written and produced by Mark Moore and Pascal Gabriel. One of the landmarks of early acid house and late 1980s sampling culture, the single became an instant hit upon its release in April 1988, peaking at number one on the UK Singles Chart for two weeks. It fared less well in the United States, only reaching number 91 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100, but reaching number one on the ''Billboard'' Hot Dance Club Play chart. Pascal Gabriel (born 15 December 1956) is a Belgian-born musician based in London, England and Paris, France. Background Pascal Gabriel's musical career began in 1977 in the punk rock band The Razors (bass guitar). He left Belgium for London in 1979. During the early 1980s, he had spells in various experimental groups, including art-school band Church of Friendly Valley with scratch video artist George Barber, and an electronic project whose only performance was in a supermarket.
