Razdel Point
Razdel Point ( bg, нос Раздел, ‘Nos Razdel’ \'nos raz-'del\) is the ice-covered point on the southwest side of the entrance to Zapalnya Cove and northeast side of the entrance to Nikolov Cove on the southeast coast of Smith Island in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica. The point is named after the settlements of Razdel in Northeastern and Southeastern Bulgaria. Sredets Point
Sredets Point ( bg, нос Средец, ‘Nos Sredets’ \'nos sre-'dets\) is the ice-covered point on the southeast coast of Smith Island in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica, projecting 400 m into Osmar Strait and separating the glacier termini of Krivodol Glacier to the north and Pashuk Glacier to the south. The point is named after the town of Sredets in Southeastern and the settlements of Sredets in Southern Bulgaria. The Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica (CGA) of the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR) is the authoritative international gazetteer containing all Antarctic toponyms published in national gazetteers, plus basic information about those names and the relevant geographical features. Antarctic Place-names Commission
The Antarctic Place-names Commission was established by the Bulgarian Antarctic Institute in 1994, and since 2001 has been a body affiliated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria. The Commission approves Bulgarian place names in Antarctica, which are formally given by the President of the Republic according to the Bulgarian Constitution (Art. 98) and the established international practice. Bulgarian names in Antarctica Geographical names in Antarctica reflect the history and practice of Antarctic exploration. The nations involved in Antarctic research give new names to nameless geographical features for the purposes of orientation, logistics, and international scientific cooperation. Mount Pisgah (Smith Island)
Mount Pisgah is a peak rising to 1860 m in the north-central part of Imeon Range on Smith Island in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica. It is linked by Kostenets Saddle to Drinov Peak to the southwest, and surmounts Dalgopol Glacier to the north and Vetrino Glacier to the west. Because the peaks of Smith Island gave it a forked appearance when seen from a distance, American sealers in the 1820s called it ''Mount Pisgah Island'' after the double-topped Mount Pisgah in the town of Durham, CT. The name has since been restricted to the peak described. Location The peak is located at which is 7.64 km northeast of Mount Foster, 1.85 km northeast of Drinov Peak, 3.9 km southeast of Gregory Point, 4.74 km southwest of Mount Christi and 1.1 km west of Mezek Peak (Bulgarian mapping in 2009).
