Captain Raymond C. "Jerry" Roberts MBE (18 November 1920 – 25 March 2014) was a British wartime codebreaker and businessman. During the Second World War, Roberts worked at the Government Code and Cypher School (GC&CS) at Bletchley Park from 1941 to 1945. He was a leading codebreaker and linguist, who worked on the Lorenz cipher system – Hitler's most top-level code. Jerry Roberts was born in Wembley, London. His father Herbert, had trained as a pharmacist, but worked for Lloyds Bank head office in the City for the rest of his 40-year career, since coming to London from Wales in 1915. His mother, Leticia, was a pianist and an organist who played in the local chapel. He was educated at Latymer Upper School, Hammersmith in London 1933–39 and University College London 1939–41. Raymond Harcourt Roberts (14 April 1931 – 25 September 2019) was a Welsh Anglican priest and Royal Navy chaplain. He served as Chaplain of the Fleet and Archdeacon of the Royal Navy from 1980 to 1984. Early life Roberts was born on 14 April 1931. He studied at St Edmund Hall, Oxford and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree) in 1954; his BA was promoted to a Master of Arts (MA Oxon) degree in 1958 as per tradition. From 1954 to 1956, he studied for ordination at St. Michael's College, Llandaff. Ordained ministry Roberts was ordained into the Church in Wales as a deacon in 1956 and as a priest in 1957. From 1956 to 1959, he served as an assistant curate at St Basil's Church, Bassaleg, south Wales. During his curacy, he was also a part-time military chaplain with the Royal Naval Reserve. Raymond Roberts is a journalist, sports administrator, trade unionist and politician from Grenada. Biography Roberts first trained as a journalist at the University of the West Indies and subsequently obtained an associate degree at Miami Dade College in communications. He became active in the Media Workers Association of Grenada and served as an executive member. He also served as General Secretary of the Grenada Trades Union Council (GTUC). In March 2013, Roberts was nominated to a seat in the Senate representing the GTUC, one of three Senate seats held for specific constituencies (business and farmers being the others). In 2018, shortly before the general election, Roberts resigned from his Senate seat in order to contest the election representing the National Democratic Congress.
