Raymond Lassor
Raymond J. Lassor (born 1963) is an American serial killer who strangled to death three women, and attempted to murder a fourth, in the span of a little over two months in 1984. He later became the first criminal to be successfully prosecuted under the newly enacted Rhode Island "Life Without Parole Statute", headed by prosecutor Jeffrey B. Pine, and promptly received life imprisonment without parole for his crimes. Murders In the summer of 1984, three women were killed in a remarkably similar fashion in Providence's downtown area: all were found within a five-block radius, near a bus depot, were strangled to death and left only partially clothed. Westerly, Rhode Island
Westerly is a town on the southwestern shoreline of Washington County, Rhode Island, first settled by English colonists in 1661 and incorporated as a municipality in 1669. It is a beachfront community on the south shore of the state with a population of 23,359 as of the 2020 census. The Pawcatuck River flows on the western border of Westerly and was once renowned for its own species of Westerly salmon, three of which are on the town's official seal. The river flows from inland, emptying into Little Narragansett Bay. It also serves as the boundary between Westerly and Pawcatuck, Connecticut. Three large salt ponds lie along the coast of Westerly which serve as shallow, reef-like pools whose outer walls form the long, white beaches for which the town is renowned. Roger Williams Park
Roger Williams Park is an elaborately landscaped city park in Providence, Rhode Island and a historic district listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is named after Roger Williams, the founder of the city of Providence and the primary founder of the state of Rhode Island. History The land for the park was a gift to the people of Providence in 1872, in accordance with the will of Betsey Williams, the last descendant of Roger Williams to inherit his land. It had been the family farm and was the last of the original land granted to Roger Williams in 1638 by Canonicus, chief of the Narragansett tribe.
