Raymond Hackett
Raymond Hackett (July 15, 1902 – July 7, 1958) was a stage and screen actor. He had been a child actor on the Broadway stage and was the brother of Albert Hackett. He was born in New York City the son of Maurice Hackett and Florence Hackett (née Hart). His mother was later a silent screen actress. Hackett's first wife was Myra Hampton, the marriage was dissolved. His second wife was the actress Blanche Sweet. As a child he first appeared on stage in New York in 1907 in ''The Toymaker of Nuremberg''; Nov. 25, 1907 Garrick Theatre. In Sept. 1909 he appeared with Margaret Anglin in the play ''The Awakening of Helena Richie''. Chapel of the Pines Crematory is a crematory and columbarium located at 1605 South Catalina Street, Los Angeles, in the U.S. state of California, in the historic West Adams District a short distance southwest of Downtown. It is beside Angelus-Rosedale Cemetery, one street east, at the southwest corner of Catalina and Venice Boulevard. Established in 1903, this domed structure, which looks like an observatory, provides crematory services and columbarium inurnment. ''The Trial of Mary Dugan'' is a 1929 American pre-Code film produced and distributed by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and starring Norma Shearer. The film is based on the 1927 Broadway stage play ''The Trial of Mary Dugan'' by Bayard Veiller, who also directed the film. On stage the play had starred Ann Harding (in Shearer's role), who would come to Hollywood a few years later at the beginning of talkies. This was Veiller's first and only sound film directorial effort as he had directed several silent films before 1922. The play was also published as a novel authored by William Almon Wolff, published in 1928. The 1941 film of the same name is an MGM remake. Plot Mary Dugan, a Broadway showgirl, is charged with murder in the knifing death of her wealthy lover, and goes on trial for her life. Plot Bart Carter has sacrificed a writing career so he can support his wife Peggy and their five children by working as a clerk in a New York City publishing house.
