Raymond E. Willis
Raymond Eugene Willis (August 11, 1875March 21, 1956) was a United States senator from Indiana. Born in Waterloo, Indiana, he attended the public schools and graduated from Wabash College in 1896. He learned the printer's trade in Waterloo and moved to Angola, Indiana and engaged in the newspaper publishing business in 1898. He was postmaster of Angola from 1910 to 1914 and during the First World War he served as chairman of Steuben County, Indiana, Steuben County Council of Defense, 1917-1918. From 1919 to 1921, Willis was a member of the Indiana House of Representatives and was an unsuccessful candidate for election to the U.S. Senate in 1938, losing to moderate incumbent Democrat Frederick Van Nuys by about 5,100 votes; he was elected as a Republican Party (United States), Republican to the Senate in 1940, narrowly unseating Democratic Sherman Minton, and served from January 3, 1941, to January 3, 1947. James Eli Watson
James Eli Watson (November 2, 1864July 29, 1948) was a U.S. Representative and U.S. Senator from Indiana. He was the Senate's second official majority leader. While an article published by the Senate (see References) gives his year of birth as 1862, this is most probably incorrect. He was born in Winchester, Indiana, one of six children. His father was a lawyer, a Republican state legislator, and owner-editor of the local newspaper, the ''Winchester Herald''. At the age of twelve, Watson accompanied his father to the 1876 Republican National Convention. Watson attended DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana and graduated in 1886. At DePauw he was a member of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity. He then studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1886 and joined his father's law firm. Homer (; grc, Ὅμηρος , ''Hómēros'') (born ) was a Greek poet who is credited as the author of the ''Iliad'' and the ''Odyssey'', two epic poems that are foundational works of ancient Greek literature. Homer is considered one of the most revered and influential authors in history. Homer's ''Iliad'' centers on a quarrel between King Agamemnon and the warrior Achilles during the last year of the Trojan War. The ''Odyssey'' chronicles the ten-year journey of Odysseus, king of Ithaca, back to his home after the fall of Troy. Arthur Raymond Robinson (March 12, 1881March 17, 1961) was a United States senator from Indiana. Early life Born in Pickerington, Ohio, Robinson attended the common schools, graduated from the Ohio Northern University in 1901 ( B. Comm. Sci.), the Indiana Law School (now Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law) in Indianapolis in 1910 (LL.B.), and the University of Chicago in 1913 ( B.Ph.). He was admitted to the bar in 1910 and commenced practice in Indianapolis. Career Robinson was a member of the Indiana Senate from 1914 to 1918, and was the Republican floor leader during the entire period. During the First World War he served in the U.S. Army as a first lieutenant, captain, and major, and served in France in the Army of Occupation.
