Raymond Bowers (actor)
Raymond Bowers is a British actor who has appeared in numerous TV series and movies since the 1970s, including ''Are You Being Served?'' (in which he appeared three times, as well as '' Are You Being Served? The Movie'') and ''Midsomer Murders''. Born in Swansea, he performed in amateur dramatics while a student at Swansea University, where he initially studied philosophy. His first work after graduation was in rep, initially in Salisbury, before moving on to the West End. He has also worked with the Royal Shakespeare Company. Bowers made his television debut with an episode of '' The Newcomers'' in 1967. Are You Being Served?
''Are You Being Served?'' is a British sitcom created and written by executive producer David Croft (Croft also directed some episodes) and Jeremy Lloyd, with contributions from Michael Knowles and John Chapman, for the BBC. Set in London, the show follows the misadventures and mishaps of the staff of the retail ladies' and gentlemen's clothing departments in the flagship department store of a fictional chain called Grace Brothers. The series was broadcast on the BBC for ten series, totalling 69 episodes between 8 September 1972 and 1 April 1985 – and included five Christmas specials. There was also a 1977 film, a spin-off series ''Grace & Favour'' with the same main cast in 1991–1992, and a one-off episode with a new cast in 2016. ''To Serve Them All My Days'' is a British television drama series, adapted by Andrew Davies from R. F. Delderfield's 1972 novel ''To Serve Them All My Days''. It was first broadcast by the BBC over 13 episodes in 1980 and 1981. It was broadcast in Australia in 1981 by the Australian Broadcasting Commission, and in 1982 by PBS in the United States as part of their ''Masterpiece Theatre'' anthology series. ''How Green Was My Valley'' is a BBC Television serial based on the novel by Richard Llewellyn, and features one of the last performances by Stanley Baker.
