Rayadurg–Tumkur Section
Rayadurg–Tumkur section is an ongoing broad-gauge railway line project in the Indian states of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. It connects Rayadurg in Andhra Pradesh with Tumkur in Karnataka. History The foundation stone for this project was laid in October 2011 with an outlay of 857.31 crores. Jurisdiction This project falls under the jurisdiction of both Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka states with a distance of 94 km and 113 km. This line falls under the jurisdiction of Hubli railway division of the South Western Railway Zone. Status As of now 63 km of track is operational. There is a single daily passenger service from to Kadiri Devarapalli. Madhugiri is a city in Tumkur district in the Indian state of Karnataka. The city derives its name from a hillock, Madhu-giri (honey-hill) which lies to its south. Madakasira is a town with a population 19,432 in 2001 and also a mandal in Sri Satya Sai district in the state of Andhra Pradesh in India. It is located near the state border with Karnataka. The Madakasira Hill Fort in the town is a centrally protected monument of national importance. History According to a mythological tradition mentioned in the medieval ''kaifiyat'' (bureaucratic record), the site of the village was once a hermitage of the sage Mandavya. Pavagada or Pavgada is a taluk in the Tumkur district in Karnataka, India. Historically it was part of the Mysore kingdom. Though it is geographically connected to Chitradurga district inside state of Karnataka, it comes under Tumkur district. It is from state capital of Bangalore. Uttara Pinakini river flows into this Taluk. Pavagada Taluk falls on the border of Karnataka, hence majority of the population are bilingual speaks Kannada and Telugu. Kalyandurg is a town in Anantapur district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is the headquarters for Kalyandurg mandal and Kalyandurg revenue division. The discovery of diamond-bearing Kimberlites in Kalyandurg area, is one of the clusters that has been discovered. South Western Railway Zone
The South Western Railway (SWR) is one of the 19 railway zones in India, headquartered at Hubballi in Karnataka State. SWR was created from carving out the routes from Southern Railways, South Central Railways and Central Railways in 2003. History The South Western Railway zone came into existence on 1 April 2003 by bifurcating Mysuru and Bengaluru divisions from Southern Railway along with Hubballi division from South Central Railway. It is headquartered at Hubballi and comprises three divisions namely Hubballi, Mysuru, and Bengaluru.
