Raymond Williams (born 30 August 1946) is an English former footballer who played as a striker. He now works as a commentator at BBC Radio Stoke. Starting his career at Stoke City, he did not make a first team appearance and so moved on to Stafford Rangers, and also worked as a teacher. He helped Rangers to lift the FA Trophy in 1972 and to top the Northern Premier League in 1971–72, before he returned to the Football League with Port Vale in July 1972. He scored 40 goals in 194 appearances for the club over the next five years, and was given the club's Player of the Year award in 1972–73. He returned to the non-league scene with Northwich Victoria in March 1977, and was appointed as the club's manager the following year. Ray Williams, OBE (25 August 1927 – 3 December 2014) was the world's first professional full-time rugby union coach. He was the national coaching director of the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) in the late 1960s and through the 1970s, devising the strategies that led Wales to dominate rugby in Europe at that time. He was also a major influence on former Australian national coach Bob Templeton. A talented player in his younger years, Williams played for London Welsh, Northampton, Moseley, and East Midlands. He was selected to trial for the Welsh national team as a flyhalf. Williams trained as a PE teacher at Loughborough College and coached the West Midland's region in England. Thomas Ray Williams (October 14, 1954 – March 22, 2013) was an American professional basketball player who played in the National Basketball Association from 1977 to 1987. Born in Mount Vernon, New York, he was the younger brother of Gus Williams, who also played in the NBA. High school and college careers Williams attended Mount Vernon High School and helped lead the school to two New York State basketball championships. Raymond Henry Williams (31 August 1921 – 26 January 1988) was a Welsh socialist writer, academic, novelist and critic influential within the New Left and in wider culture. His writings on politics, culture, the media and literature contributed to the Marxist critique of culture and the arts.
