Ray Turner (basketball)
Ray Lee Turner (born January 24, 1990) is an American professional basketball player for the Mandurah Magic of the NBL1 West. He played college basketball for Texas A&M University before playing professionally in Cyprus, Australia, Japan and Hungary. During his first two years in Australia, Turner won a QBL championship with the Rockhampton Rockets and was named the SBL Most Valuable Player with the Perth Redbacks. Early life and high school Turner was born in Houston, Texas, and grew up in the south-central area of South Park without a father and with a sick mother. As an adolescent, Turner missed a lot of school and was often getting into trouble, but basketball provided a positive outlet. The power forward (PF), also known as the four or strong forward, is a position in basketball. Power forwards play a role similar to centers. When on offense, they typically play with their backs towards the basket. When on defense, they typically position themselves under the basket in a zone defense or against the opposing power forward in man-to-man defense. The NBL1 West Most Valuable Player (MVP) is an annual NBL1 West award given to the best performing player of the regular season. The Baylor Bears men's basketball team represents Baylor University in Waco, Texas, in NCAA Division I men's basketball competition. The Bears compete in the Big 12 Conference. South Park is a broad post-World War II development in the south-central area of Houston, Texas, a few miles south of MacGregor Park and directly south of the 610 Loop. According to the 2000 Census, the community has a population of 22,282. 81% of the South Park population is African American, compared to 25% for the city as a whole. Queensland Basketball League
NBL1 North, formerly the Queensland Basketball League (QBL), is a semi-professional basketball league in Queensland and Northern Territory, Australia, comprising both a men's and women's competition. In 2020, Basketball Queensland partnered with the National Basketball League (NBL) to bring NBL1 to Queensland. NBL1 replaced the former QBL to create more professional pathways and opportunities for males and females playing basketball in Queensland. As a result, the QBL became the north conference of NBL1.
